I really enjoyed this video. Having worn work boots for both my careers, I can appreciate well made boots that last. Tough to break in at first, but fit well when they do, so I can understand rebuilding a good pair. Thanks for not adding annoying music too. Well done.

@@Michael_J_M14 probably wore an ill-fitting work boot. I put my superdutys right into a 6 mile hike in the woods their first day and they were absolute Cadillacs of the woods. Never once got a blister in any of my JK boots. Can't say the same for Nicks or Wolverine or Keen or any other manufacturer.

Just seeing the effort needed to disassemble a WORN OUT BOOT, tells me these are built to last. That cobbler shop is very skilled and professional. Everybody probably knows everybody else's job. Very good workshop, everybody quiet and focusing on their work.

I can see how well these boots are made by how much effort it takes to pull them apart, even in their worn condition. It takes pincers as big as that, as well! I'm a cabinetmaker/joiner, and you can tell, when restoring a piece of furniture or a window casement, or door, how much effort and care was put into their construction by how much effort (& skill) is necessary to remove the worn parts, and how easy & straightforward it is to add the new parts. My pincers aren't that big tho'! 😆 (but I do have an oscillating multitool). I'm waiting for my slightly custom OT 6", as my 30 year old hiking/repurposed as work boots are starting to hurt my feet. Keep up the good work!

What's the purpose of a complete rebuild? Wouldn't it be more efficient to just build a new boot?
@gk5891 Жыл бұрын
They only reuse the uppers and they charge you about 50-60% (depending on exact options and which PNW Boot company) of what a new set cost. I would say the purpose is to keep that money in your pocket. I suspect from the manufacturers point of view it's more about customer relations and marketing instead of profit on the rebuild.
@CMDolojan Жыл бұрын
@gk5891 that makes sense. I wonder how much more time after a rebuild you can get out of the boot
@bopiyeff Жыл бұрын
It is a marketing trick I believe
@gk5891 Жыл бұрын
@CMDolojan You shouldn't see a difference in longevity other than the upper leather now has one rebuild on it, so that's one less in the "bank" so to speak. Of course these are hand made products so the rebuilt boots may never feel like the old pair which in reality were just a leather donor for a new set of boots.
