Multiple camera angles and camera focus on key points was excellent. Perfect editing! Very clean! Not a second wasted. Video quality outstanding. What a great job getting this video dropped. THANK YOU… I’ve been “flipping” and I honestly thought this is a correct swing mechanic. Ive been flipping cuz when I started, i was gripping the club WAY TOO HARD. Flipping helped me get a feel of the lag, and throwing the weight of the club head through the ball. This got rid of the my gripping problems, but is totally screwing my swing post-impact. No wonder my ball flight tends to go left. Cant wait to try this wrist movement tomorrow. New subscriber here!!

Different advice out there for the wrists. Stack and tilt suggests that the left wrist stays flat/right wrist stays bent throughout the swing, with the club rehinging on the follow through. I have not tried bending the lead wrist while maintaining the right wrist bend as well.

Very helpful to comprehend the need to incorporate some element of rolling / releasing the forearms into / post impact. Also very useful to have perfect clarity on when your lead wrist should move into extension/ cupping motion. The combination of the training aid helped to understand the need for the vertical cocking upwards motion in the trail wrist as the lead wrist moves into extension. Brilliant clarity. Well done Jonathan 🎉.

Great video! I was literally looking for a good follow-through video for hands/wrists yesterday, and today you release this. Perfect! The breakdown of Jon Rahm's impact and follow through was very helpful! Now I can see the wrist action as 4 phases when you start the downswing. 1) Gather the lag and start the release, as if you're whipping something. Start a slight roll of the lead forearm just as you're passing lead arm parallel on the downswing. 2) Then bow the lead wrist/turn the knuckles or back of the lead hand downward to the ground as the hands pass trail hip, this squares the clubhead just before and through impact, which also keeps shaft lean. 3) Immediately after impact, roll both forearms/wrists together so the clubhead points just past vertically upward. (The lead wrist will unhinge a bit during this. This rolling and unhinging keeps the clubhead moving and flowing along its arc without trying to "hold" the release). 4) Re-hinge the lead wrist as your arms reach chest height and the club then fully wraps around your lead shoulder to bleed off the energy. Excellent! I had the first 2 down but didn't know what to do after that. Now I understand why some teachers say the lead hand is like throwing a frisbee during the release. It's rolling and slightly unhinging together, not ONLY unhinging without a roll. As a mental concepts, I'm imaging the release is like 70% roll and 30% unhinging at the same time. THANK YOU!

So this is something I really hear so much info and can’t figure it out. I’ve had coaches telling me not to flip.. and to kinda hold the angle and rotate the body. People encourage a “full body release” vs a hand release. I find when I hold the angle I compress it but it just doesn’t feel as natural. Could you do a video about the full body release vs the hand release? Pros and cons?

Hello Jonathan....great content.......could you please help reconcile the 'some amount of supination and pronation' with a throw release? I thought the throw release is the flipping motion, but closer to waist high to keep the face square after impact, and less rotation. thank you and great job!

I recently realized I was under gripping with my right hand and was constantly flopping the club head over on impact causing a short draw or a an inconsistent mess rarely leaving the tea box. I had the left hand correct but when i finally corrected my right as you're doing, I even noticed my arms now track in the circle you need to swing consistently. Also for me at 5'7" with shoes on 😅, moving the ball either lined up with my big toe or barely inside the foot. I'm now hitting perfectly up the middle hitting a nice draw depending on where I point the club face. But anyway great video and guys,, believe what he's saying and just execute execute execute!!

Great video for the release. It’s rare and difficult to indestand. That is why it’s easier for children to play golf. They dont have enough force and their hand always release. About Rham, he has a lot of lead wrist flexion because of his weak grip. With a stronger grip like Fitzpatrick, that lead hand would be extended a little bit.

Great video, as usual, about a part of the swing that is very confusing because of the number of descriptions or methods of releasing the club that are out there. One observation. At the 6:00 mark of the video you describe the lead wrist going into extension or cupping after impact. If the Precision Impact device forces the trail wrist to stay in extension after setting the club in the takeaway, the lead wrist cannot also go into extension or cup after that point or am I missing something?
@JKMGolf

in the follow through the wrist can still go into extension. I think you are referring to the backswing.
@zazenforever4940
@zazenforever4940 6 ай бұрын
I agree with you on this part being confusing. The device he is wearing forces a cupping in the trail wrist, and a flat left wrist. I get that you then must roll the forearms to square the club, which i have done. But while the device allows the hinge and re hinge of the wrists, it does not allow for the cupping in the lead wrist/ flat trail wrist after impact that you describe. Its not explained that well.

The ball is long gone before any of this matters. Its even simpler than this: you must be dragging the club to store energy in the shaft (hence the bowed wrist at impact). If you're not, the club head will already have passed your hands. Everything else is just the release of the kinetic energy that was stored. Power is all in the lag and if you're John Rahm it doesnt hurt to built like a tank too.
@JKMGolf
@JKMGolf 6 ай бұрын
If the follow through doesn’t matter then why don’t players just stub the club into the ground at impact? The follow through is evidence of what has happened during the downswing and how well you are efficiently moving the club. A lot of people don’t understand HOW to move “kinetic energy”

...there are so many things wrong with this technique that i almost wish that more people would try it and make me look like an even better golfer than I actually am. Promoting this is kinda like sneaking around before a race letting the air out of your opponents' tires. A golf swing is already hard enough to do well on a reliable basis. Why make it harder & less reliable? Trust me. If you do not do this, if instead you try to hold about 5-10 deg of lag in your wrists throughout impact, you will be far happier with your irons and begin to dial in on flags. Then work on controlling posture through impact, which is what will throw- off your shots once you get your face-to-path and clubhead to forearm alignment dialed in. . This will just make all of your problems worse.

The release shouldn't be a conscious action, when you rotate and create lag the weight of the club head will create a natural release...there is no one in the world that can consistently manipulate their club head release . As soon as you think about your hands you'll loose club head speed ,direction or both in the swing ....This is just a sales pitch to promote a product. The pros in the video are not thinking about the release they are driving down with lag and a square club face.

@@kevinkelly3630I'm happy to discuss as adults without petty insults....the release happens due to the weight of the club and although you need to ensure it happens in the correct manner it is a motion that occurs when the wrists can no longer support the lag ....if you are thinking about your release in the downswing you haven't yet perfected the feel

You need to immediately stop recommending this device. It is dangerously, badly designed. My wrist bone bleeds each time I use it. Not only that the owner is the most unhelpful seller of product ever. First, he claims my email went o spam, justifying his lack of response. There is nothing in my email that causes this. It is shoddy support. The owner claims that he has the same problem with his own device! His solution is some insert in the paperwork. What good does that do me? His other solution is for me to go buy foam and do modifications, modifications that he doesn’t specify. Is the that my job? He needs to te-design his flawed product. Or recall this dangerous piece. And the owner also has the gall to tell me how proud he is of his customer service! No refund offer has been made. Shocking. And my scabbed wrist bone hurts.
