Repair video of a JL Audio 250/1 that had a shorted output causing the low ohms light to be on.

Love jl audio amp repairs. I have the hd series 1200w mono and hd 600.4. They are a PITA to work on or take apart but love them as an amp. I'd happily own the similar power rating slash amps those things are beautiful and bad ass. Subbed ❤️

Hello awesome video great info! I have the same amp when i apply 12v to the amp the power light comes on very dim an flickers on/off very rapid. Any ideas here? I checked all the mofs an cant seem to find any issue there

Yes I’m going to try it out today my sub would all of a sudden out of no where once in a while make a loud humming noise.I thought it was a ground problem but when I would push a little on the switch on my amp it would stop, so we shall see.🤞

Not sure if u will see this, but my low ohm light is also on, is this the common fix for this?

Any idea if the relay for remote on is serviceable? Assuming it's located between the two boards. Mine won't seem to turn off despite a working remote wire or on autosense.

I just picked up the same amp, but has issues and needs repaired. Any chance i could send this to be fixed?

I have a rd jl 1500/1. When powered on with no ohm load the clip light blinks saying too low ohm also it makes a slight clicking sound out of the speaker terminals any help buddy?

Would CPU Thermal paste work in place of the compound?

Yep, it would work just fine, same thing really. Usually the stuff for CPUs is more expensive because they want it to be more efficient, but when you are repairing a bunch of amplifiers it's good to have a big tube. You could also use the same stuff I used on the amp for a CPU and it would work fine too, it just might not be quite as efficient.

@@TheRetroBen When doing a once a year or every 5 year repair, its nice to know the stuff I already have would work. Now my mind is going to the SNES as I do not believe they ever used any type of paste/compound.
