Try driving at motorway speed for 30 - 45 minutes, 3500RPM ish. That will regenerate the DPF for the cost of about a gallon of diesel.
@jlmlubricants
@jlmlubricants 5 жыл бұрын
Of course! The car is programmed to regenerate at times to keep the DPF clean. However, it happens rather ofter that the DPF is too loaded with soot that it can't regenerate itself anymore. Not even at higher rpm during a highway drive. That's when JLM products can be a good option!

It's not about the rpm when dpf regenerates passively in a highway. It's about constant speed to reach 600 deg celcius and keep it up until regeratation ends.

Can you regenerate without having to wait for the warning light come on
@jonsnell4751
@jonsnell4751 3 жыл бұрын
@@bubblehead46 Yes. Drive with the engine above 3000RPM for 15 minutes or so regularly, say monthly, will cause the DPF to heat up and naturally regenerate itself. Most diesel engines inject extra fuel during the exhaust stroke to superheat the DPF when it requires regenerating.

Thank you for the vid. Very useful! I have a 2013 Toyota Yaris with a DPF and the engine has 130.000km (80.000 miles). I have a problem with the oil level due to very frequent regens (I counted that regens occur every 250-300 km. So the oil level increases at every 2.000 or 3.000 km and a spanner turns on on the dashboard. I visited a TOYOTA dealer last year and they said that the DPF is in a good condition. Three months ago I visited another mechanic because the spanner was on again. He made a forced regen (after that the DPF was at 15%). Also he changed the oil. Now the spanner is on again and the mechanic says that I have to change the oil... This is very confusing and I am kind of desperate. It is simply unaffordable to have an oil change every 3 or 4 months. So my question is: If the DPF is in a good condition, then why does my Yaris regen so often? Could it be a problem on the electronics or the engine management system? Could we simply adjust somehow the way or frequency that regens occur, perhaps by using some additives?

I'm wondering what the pressure is at full throttle on 6th gear before and after cleaning 🤔 what does it compare to out of car high-pressure cleaning? 🤔 where are all the ash deposits going? I have idle pressure 7mbar, 2.5k rpm is about 50mbar. But full throttle reaches over 400, and that makes my fuel injection limits reached, and the car doesn't reach its full engine torque. What about that?

This is probably a stupid question, but would it be possible to do an in-situ water-based ash clean with alkali and/or acidic solutions, by removing all the sensors, plugging all the holes but one, at the top, plug the exhaust after the dpf, then fill, soak, drain, repeat until clean? Then inject air until it dries out. Just a thought.
@jlmlubricants
@jlmlubricants 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, many thanks for your suggestion. Surely there are more options to clean a dpf. At JLM we have chosen for the DPF Cleaning toolkit with the 2-stage cleaning procedure with or without using JLM in tank additives to clean excessive soot from the DPF. This is a proven method and the preferred option for The DPF Doctor Network. As far as ash goes, we can only recommend to take off the DPF and send it to a specialized cleaning company. With chemicals it is not possible to clean out ash from a DPF in-situ. We have not tried not tested the use of the materials that you suggest so I am sorry but we cannot make any claim or statement on this. But thank you for your thoughts!

Thank you for your question Yayy! In fact we get this question asked quite frequently. Ash collected in the DPF cannot be cleaned out or be dissolved by a chemical liquid while in situ. To remove the ash, the DPF has to be taken off and it requires a different procedure. So please read carefully as sometimes on social media both soot and ash seem to get mixed up. And generally most cases of DPF blockages are caused by excessive soot loading and not so much by ash. But ash cannot be cleaned out by a chemical treatment while in situ. Soot however can be cleaned/removed very well. At JLM Lubricants we have a variety of Diesel Particulate Filter blockage treatments, both preventative as well as problem solving.

I've got one of your guys coming to test the car tomorrow and check the dpf over, had a split boost pipe for a while however want showing on a diagnostic, looks like its caused the dpf to fill over time and lot let it regen sufficiently. Thank you for your message! It’s not something that we would recommend as we do not know what affect it will have on the DPF and what it will do to exhaust temperatures. Our products are designed and testes specifically for this particular use when these Diesel Particulate Filters are blocked with an excess of soot. Can't really provide you with a proper answer on that one, sorry. Thanks!

@@jlmlubricants I'vew done some research, and as long the temp of the working acid solution does not cross over 190'c all is sound. After 200'c there chemical reaction with some of the parts becomes active, with 80% possibly to damage of the dpf components.

This is not a straight forward answer but we have customers still running the original DPF at 300,000 miles and it really depends on how the vehicle is maintained. The dealer would fit a new DPF at this point.

@@jlmlubricants The car is W211 320CDI V6. Maintained perfectly since I have it 2016. Before me IDK. I had an issue with the turbine in 2017 and they told me I have to get rid of the CAT and DPF and recycle the turbine. Did so, and there are no issues til date, but where I live there is no problems if you drive without dpf and cat... now I have to move in another country where if I want to drive it legaly I have to install the cat and DPF.... Since I had no idea this will come to me I have left the DPF and CAt at the service because I did not need them. Now I asked the service owner if we can put back some second hand if we clean them and he told me that there is no chance a used DPF and CAT will work properly after cleaning (not more than 20 30K). So I`ve started digging online and found out from many vids including yours that actually that is not true and I do not need to pay 2000 Euro per for new CAT and DPF but still I do not want to sell the car because it`s working perfectly and doing it`s job flawless as a family car. @jlmlubricants

Thank you for your message Wasim! It is difficult to say when the next warning light comes on. Do you know the cause of the initial time the light went on? Did the professional determine why the DPF got blocked? This blocking can be caused by a mechanical failure of a component, or it can be caused by frequent driving in stop and go traffic. If it is caused by driving in stop and go (city) traffic it is important to take your car for a longer, high way drive to allow your to complete a full regeneration. Alternatively at JLM we have products to help your car with making these 're gens'. Check our JLM Diesel ReGen Plus for example. Thanks!

Hi, Sohail! According to the European emissions standards (Euro 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), all vehicles must have emissions control systems to limit the gases expelled into the environment. Failure to comply can result in vehicle seizure and fines. However, regardless of legal requirements, these systems are integrated into the vehicle's circuitry, and if not properly bypassed, they can cause problems with existing sensors and continuously generate errors, disrupting the proper functioning of the vehicle and its adjacent sensors. JLM Lubricants avoids all these costs with high-quality preventive maintenance, using DPF cleaning additives for when there is already a problem, but, above all, using preventive measures to prevent DPF blockage, interrupted regenerations, and consequently, oil deterioration and blockage of lubrication channels that can lead to the failure of internal engine components.
