Gerry's first big hit in '72 was "Stuck In The Middle With You" with Stealer's Wheel. That same year he released the awesome song "Star" which most people don't know about.

I believe he wrote this song to honor his wife. Deep love and emotion for her. One beautifully written song by Gerry Rafferty.

This song could honor any woman. There are no references to physical appearance, not eyes, hair, legs, etc. It is all about love.

I don't know any more solo Gerry to recommend. But he was once in a band called Stealers Wheel. They had a hit called Stuck In The Middle With You.

Great reaction!! Baker's Street had the sax, this has the bass groove. Both have incredible vocals/harmonies and musicianship - and that was the constant with Rafferty (RIP). HIGHLY suggest one additional track from this same album, called The Ark - it opens the album, and it's spectacular! Cheers!

Good Rafferty choices so far, but they are the same 2 every reactor does -even though yours have been exceptionally thoughtful. My favorite song of his is “Get It Right Next Time.” Rafferty was plagued with personal problems (as many of us are) but “Get It Right Next Time” was more dismissive of problems and more hopeful than some of his hits. It is kind of a pep talk that I enjoy very much. Thanks for what you and your channel continue to contribute to the world, JM.

Right Down The Line hits different! Definitely my favorite from him. Pisses me off though that there isn’t one live in studio recording of him playing it, sadly. I’d settle for even a live concert version of it though. I know someone, somewhere out there has a recorded video of him playing it.

I'm pretty sure that's a woodblock (actual name of a musical instrument) making those clicking sounds. I notice it in Baker Street as well.
