Joan Baez & Pete Seeger: So long, It's Been Good to Know You

Joan sings “So Long, It’s Been Good to Know You” with Pete Seeger, followed by “Pastures of Plenty” and “Plane Wreck at Los Gatos (Deportees)”.
These clips are all from Jim Brown’s film of the 1970 Woody Guthrie All-Star Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl. The DVD is highly recommended: apart from Arlo Guthrie and Pete, it features Odetta, Richie Havens, Country Joe McDonald and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott among others, with narration by Will Geer and Peter Fonda. (The copyright belongs to the Hereditary Disease Foundation and MVD Visual.)

Joan Baez has a wonderful voice as did Pete Seeger. A lot of music came via those two folks.👍👍

Baez is the best interpreter of the deeper Guthrie songs, not the sing a long type but the soulful ones.

Her and Pete seeger are two of my favourite singers. Was too young and too far away so never got to listen to Pete in a concert and now unfortunately Joan Baez isn't performing live either :/

Been a Joan Baez fan since early 60's, never herd her sing " plane wreck at Los Gatos" before, only herd the Julie Felix one, this is brilliant.

Thank you so much for this absolute gem!! I am so amazed because all these years being a hard-core fan, I'd never heard or even that Joan had performed these Woody Guthrie songs (except for Deportees)!... Wow! What a surprise! Gee, she's really sung EVERYTHING!! haha

First time I saw this. Thank your for posting it. Obviously I've gone to every Joanie concert in London for a few decades. Most important to me, though, is to honour Woody. A genius visionary. Joanie's music will be remembered for many generations. But she didn't change the world. Woody did. Plus, she got to know THE TRUE LIFE-CHANGING GENIUS of the 20th Century -- The unwashed phenomonon, inspired by Woody.

Baez changed the world for many, maybe not you. For 60 years her name has been synonymous with and the role model for music and social action.

@@taddyd1 Agree 100% …. Joan Baez is one of the very few artists who lived what she sang … and still does. This beautiful soul with her marvellous angelic voice absolutely shines in her integrity and devotion to the marginalized and mistreated peoples in a terribly unjust world. Rarely has a voice for social Justice pulled at our heart strings with such passion and beauty. Abrazos Joan!
