She wrote this about her sister (Mimi) and her short-lived brother in law (Richard Farina, dead via motorcycle crash at age 29) - Mimi eventually found love again, and Joan later changed the lyrics when her sister succumbed to cancer, presumably reuniting with her lover in the afterlife.

I met her in Nantes (France) in 1983, I touched her hands, how wonderful!!

This is another of her fabulous renditions. Pity her vocal mic is distorted & the soprano sax is way too loud.. I love the twist to a kinda swing dancy rhythm.. but She still sounds amazing..
