I was 15 watching this episode on a Friday night at a family friends house. I was on my own in the front room whilst the grownups were having a meal. Me being young and daft, started sneaking large measures of whiskey from the decanter. Watching this segment was one of the last things I remember before passing out. I have some memory of being sick in their kitchen sink after and getting taken home. 🤣

@@howiet1971 :Liz was an addict but Marilyn did not kill herself. Joan never made it out of the starlet typing pool. She survived, yes. But you can`t say her career is anything to talk about. Oh, she WANTED `Cleopatra` but La Liz survived. She was cast in Marilyn`s rejects. Sorry. Liz and Marilyn had Hollywood by the short hairs. Sad to say though Never bet against the house as you always lose.

I think the Monica Lewinsky jokes could’ve been held back but that was the cultural zeitgeist at the time. Not that it was a good thing in any day and age.

The jokes at Monica Lewinksy's expense have not aged well. But that was what everyone was doing at the time, sadly. Nowadays we're a bit more informed and less ignorant and see it (rightly) as a president abusing his power rather than focusing on the young woman it happened to.

I never knew she went to the Oscar’s. That does seem kind of inappropriate, especially at that time. Just because of the chaotic news swirl around her. Why did she even want to go to a huge media frenzy like that anyways? Regardless, I hope she had fun.
