The clubbing culture in Seoul shocked me. I went to a club in Hongdae and it was exactly like what Ashley and Joan described it as. My friends and I tried to make our way to the dance floor area in a line, and I kid you not, my friend up front and at the back got groped all the way by different guys. We left the club after 20 minutes cause who would stay at such a place? It's as if these guys that go clubbing have only one mission - try to pick girls up for a one night stand. They have absolutely no respect for you or your personal space. Girl can't even have fun, geeez!

Im really glad to read your point of view♡...cuz...i seen a lot of yt videos in wich girls are talking about how fun their clubbing experience is in Korea and how safe it is compare to the states. Also how they hooked up with hot Korean guys and stuff🤦🏾‍♀️..anyways i think it doesn't change the fact that us girls should be safe out there .

Yess, thank you for sharing your experience. I live in Brazil and here the clubbing culture is also crazy, especially at college parties. A lot of guys touch girls without permission and try to forcibly kiss them.. I wish I was joking but one time some random dude grabbed my hair just to get my attention! I was soo pissed off

Sameeeee! I stayed in Seoul for 2 years but I only went to the club once. I had no parts exposed, wearing long sleeves, a cardigan and pants but still get grabbed everywhere. Till one point a guy cut between me and my friends, slipped his hands between my arms, crossed our fingers together from behind and I can fucking feel his honer. After that I never went to clubs in seoul again 🙃 Not that I'm conservative or what shit but I felt disrespected there

I'm all for what Joan is about, but Ashley's right, you just never know what type of person you're confronting, they might be crazier than they look. I once saw a guy grope a girl at the club and she got mad and stepped up to him, but then his GIRLFRIEND stepped in and he turned it around saying the girl was the one hitting on him, and then the gf went ham on the other girl. Ridiculous.

Hahahahaha, Matthew! I am one independent woman, I can go to the bathroom alone. 😆😆😆 I am like Joan! I will definitely kick butts and grab their necks if they do something or touch me without permission. I was sexually harassed when I was a kid, and I was scared of people knowing it, but growing up, I learned that this could not go on and I need to fight back.

In my high school, everytime we had a school activities outside the school like study tours, camping etc one of the rule is if you're a girl and want to go to the bathroom you have to go with at least one of your friends. Its better if you go in a group

I really appreciate my guy friends.. they really do be looking out and are protective.. after any outing or event they would always escort us to the car and make sure we get in before they head to their cars.. and even my girl friends.. if its an all girl night we make sure to park close to each other so we're all walking in the same direction.. if someone parks farther we take them to their car first or we drop them off to their car.. lol.. ALWAYS STAY SAFE AND CAUTIOUS OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS

I enjoy going to edm festival more than clubbing because being enclosed in a small space is just so suffocating and the fact that guys think girls who go to club are there to be pick up by them but hell no! I mean we just enjoy dressing up and feeling confident hitting the dance floor enjoying the vibes with a bunch of other music dance lovers. That’s it. Nothing more than that. I hope more girls could stand up for themselves as we are the new generation of strong independent woman who need respect.

I've had a few nice clubbing experiences but most of them were bad/icky so my friends and I just stopped. It's too bad, bc I really enjoy getting dressed up, looking fresh and feeling good, and being around other people who also dressed up and having a good time with good music. Another way to get that type of vibe are weddings, but even then things can also turn into a weird clubbing situation when single people are involved :/

I relate to Ashley. I also get embarrassed/hate attention so I usually don't say anything and just walk away. It also feels like other people see someone harrassing me but do nothing, so I feel even more foolish to make a scene. 😔

I don’t know if you guys can say the word openly in the podcast (haven’t listened to it yet)... but what Ashley and Joan described it’s legit sexual harrassment! Most (or all) women experience it daily. It’s frustrating and hurtful not to be able to speak up when one feel so helpless.

Yea it depends on the situation, i got cat called once when i was driving by a truck driver oh my gosh that was so horrible, he went like "hey girls, watch out~" while laughing with his friends. Its kinda hot that day, i alr feel so bad then that kind of thing happened, i just flip the bird to them lol. But seconds later, im terrified what if they stopped me or like do anything to me. Then i go like different direction even tho actually I supposedly went to same direction with the truck :(

Also, I'm sorry, but the clubs I've gone to in Korea are mad sketchy! Like even if a guy asks to dance and I dance with him, they take things too far. I've had guys trying to put their hand down my shirt, up my shorts, everywhere. CUT! CUT! that's why all privilege's are lost. This is why y'all can't even get a simple dance!!!
