Crystal (BOD) did a review of the "toilet seat" yarn. First you cut the plastic zip tie type thing. Then one end is a center pull and the other end you pull from the outside and it worked great. No yarn throw up and no tangling. But she said it was a bit pricey. So you actually saved the old couch cushions and cut up the foam! GENIUS!! I think that's fantastic. I just love to reuse and recycle. Wow!! And what a great haul!! I love your frugalness (i think I just made up a word!!) And again more hats. Beautiful. And you got a nice jump on making them. You'll be done in no time!! Thanks for sharing Summer!!

Hi Summer! OMG! Laughing out loud - when you called that new packageing a Toiletseat!!😂 I will forever think of that when I see them at Joanns. I like the Caron Cakes, however I do like the 100% acrylic for kids hats and scarfs and baby blankets and things. I'd sure hate to make something a child might be allergic to. Ease of washing and drying is improtant. I love to make fall time pupkins, find twigs around my yard to use as stems. I make them like a hat, go around with increases, then decrease when I have it as tall as I want it. Then add stuffing at the top, and close it, but I leave a long tail so I can wrap around the sides to make the groves. So cute, I have them all over.🎃

I was laughing with you at keeping old stuffing; I use old stuffing from pillow to add to the fur baby beds. The outside still looks descent, but they need cushion for their bodies as they age too😂

You can knit a pumpkin similarly to how you described crocheting them…knit a rectangle, sew the side seams, cinch the bottom, stuff it, cinch the top and go through the middle and around 6-7 times to create the pumpkin shape. I found a great video by just googling ‘how to knit a pumpkin.’ I used 1/2 a small cinnamon stick in mine, as suggested, and they turned out adorably! I held 3 strands of different colors together to give them some interest. I’ll be making more, I’m sure. 🎃

I don't wash all my fabrics before sewing, just the cotton fabric I am using for wearables. Cotton tends to shrink a little and can make a difference on some wearables. For a valance if it shrinks a little it probably won't be noticeable. Glad to hear your classroom is growing providing a more stable/Christian education experience for the kids. I worry about the children in this country,

I'll have to go to Joanne's and check the Bernat Forever Fleece yarn. I have a granddaughter on the way so sounds like I can crochet a baby item with that yarn. I would love to knit a Ross hat but it looks challenging with those 4 dpns. I'm learning to knit. Thanks Summer for sharing.

Jayda in Stitches has an easy crochet 🎃 pattern (recycling 🙌🏾 - good on you reusing that sofa stuffing). I think it’s funny (& curious) how often Caron changes the way they ball up yarn, also they seem to charge a premium for their delivery experiments 🙄 - thanks for sharing and letting us know how you like them. Cute hats Summer!

I re-use/recycle as much as I can. So I think it is great to use the pillow stuffing from your couch to stuff your decorative pumpkins. And the ring of yarn - toilet seat was my first thought too. 🤣😃 You saved a lot on your total purchase. I love looking at the end of my receipt to see how much I saved , it always makes me happy.
