Profits need to be reduced. it is activist hedge funds and modern executive compensation practices - not corporate law - that drive so many of today’s public companies to myopically focus on short-term earnings; cut back on investment and innovation; mistreat their employees, customers and communities; and indulge in reckless, irresponsible and environmentally destructive behaviors.

I'm new to Orlando Florida, these hospitals jobs start at minimum wage, compare to California, starting wage is between $17-$20. It's a joke, I'm planning to go back to California. Fats foods jobs in Cali, starting wages at $17.50-19.00.
@TheSweetSerenity7
@TheSweetSerenity7 Жыл бұрын
People always be moving to Florida thinking its cheaper, just because we're not listed as one of the most expensive states, but we are actually because of that fact alone. Pay is crap everywhere and is nowhere near enough to cover living expenses. Then say you get one of these jobs in Orlando but want to pick a neighboring city where housing is slightly cheaper, yea looking at at 1 hour drive and traffic is tragic. You're truly better off back in Cali.
@C1K450
@C1K450 Жыл бұрын
Lol and you think California is any better? Your wage is PRE-TAXED in California, meaning they’ll take taxes out of your income and you’ll practically make less on average. The reason why Florida is lower than other states is because they have no state income tax. It’s still expensive though, but not as expensive as California. I’m glad you are going back to California, stay there!
@TheSweetSerenity7
@TheSweetSerenity7 Жыл бұрын
@C1K450 Yea Florida doesn't have additional state taxes but we do get a lot taken out of our wages on average 13-16% and then by margin our wages are much too low to cover food, car, and home cost. Some people get paid as low as $11. But mortgages and rent alone don't go lower than $1,500.
@farzana6676
@farzana6676 Жыл бұрын
@@TheSweetSerenity7 Everybody in every state complains that pay is not enough.
@TheSweetSerenity7
@TheSweetSerenity7 Жыл бұрын
@farzana6676 I'm sure, but also, if you lived in Florida, you'd understand. Imagine not being able to find housing because your pay is between $11-$15 and everywhere is asking for a minimum of $1500 in rent(which btw that's like for a studio,and extremely rare to find most places are realisticly in over the $2k range). The mortgage is at 7%, so it's not much better,not to mention the high car insurance premiums because so many people have moved here, so there's too many accidents, and the cost of good is astronomical now so individuals spend at least $200-$300 in groceries and families as much as $500. I literally spent $60 the other day on 1 week worth of snacks for just me. We have literally so many people experiencing homelessness and its not due to drugs or PTSD, I mean even in Central Florida, actual Disney employees who can't afford to pay for housing. Most people here with a bunch of roommates, especially immigrant families, can't tell you how many immigrant families share with another immigrant family just to afford rent, adn they will use our public transportation, which is absolutely the worse, not efficient at all, and takes forever, because they can't afford to have a car. As again insurance payments and car payments alone can be a combined cost of up to $1000, that someone even making $16-$17 in Florida cannot really afford easily.

It is true AdventHealth is the second biggest employer in central Florida. However both AdventHealth and Orlando Health are here only because of the hospitality presence here. Disney employs ~70,000 themselves plus Universal and then all the hospitality jobs that go along with that making up 85% of central Florida's workforce. Additionally, the predictability of travel allows these hospitality employers to better predict needs so they won't have a large volume infilled positions.
