Idk how someone can dislike Gremlins 2. I get it, it isn’t an awkward, creepy, and slightly dark humorous movie like the first. But placing that aside it is an amazing gremlins movie. It gave more than just a typical story. I love both equally and sometimes I would rather watch the second over the first 😂

What makes this movie so great was that it was such a great self-parody. It also had lots of cameos and even broke the 4th wall. I remember when I first watched it in theaters and the part where the Gremlins took over the movie came up; when the film started breaking up and went white, people literally booed because they thought the actual film got messed up. But when the Gremlins appeared and did their shadow puppets, the whole theater exploded into laughter; one of my best theater experiences ever! This movie was a fun film to watch and I probably would rate it higher than the first one and the first one still holds a very dear, and nostalgic part of my heart.

I love this one! I prefer it over the original somehow. Its crazy bizarre and chaotic. And honestly for the time the creature effects are amazing. Even for now the practical effects are seriously impressive. The only part I dont like is the Hulk Hogan B.S. I get the whole meta thing but could have been done better for sure

As much as I love the dark comedy original, I also loved this tongue in cheek parody that is basically a 90 minute Loony Tunes episode.

I love both Gremlins movies... Maybe 2 even more. The first one took it self a bit too serious. And besides, "New Batch" was ahead of it's times with the 4th wall breakings.

The direction of the sequel is one from an artistic point of view. What made the original scary was the mystery of the Gremlins origin weakness and strengths. With that now being common knowledge its harder to scare the audience. I might have flopped with rudamentary kills from the slasher movie monster genre. So the producers were probably like how do we make the movie twice as big and make them harder to kill. With the way they went they could bring it over the top with no limits. I loved both movies and they feel different so its hard to compare them. You don't need a remake of the original. The original can't really be improved because the small town atmosphere is timeless.

If I had to guess, Joe Dante took a page out of Tobe Hoopers book with his sequel to Texas Chainsaw Massacre... Way more ridiculous and more of a parody.. loved them both..

This movie would've been WAAAAAAAAY better if they would've made a sequel involving a terrifying realization that these creatures can exist and did in multiple forms and did in different locations. Instead of the random DNA change place-female one, the plant one, the spider one is amazing, then the silly af smart one, the one that barely gets to be a gargoyle. There was so much to go off just from that area. The spoofing of the first instead of it being more like "NEXT GENERATIONS" was the fail. Also why we never got a third one, if they'd left it open the film would've made a lot more money. The first one was brilliant-the 2nd could've been great but the direction is just bad.

I was in 4th grade when it came out and every kid I knew loved the sequel more than the original. I loved the original more because it was scary. But they all preferred the craziness of the sequel. Oh and the girl gremlin is created during the scene where the gremlins destroy the lab and drink potions.

I remember going to see this at the Cinema when it released... ABSOLUTLY ADORED IT! It was AMAZING! I am shocked it was not actually a success!!! The best Memory though, It was the Film Breaking... The ENTIRE AUDIENCE at the showing I was at were all fooled!!! In the Cinema - That section lasts just a few seconds longer... (The DVD Releases with the Original Film Break are slightly shorter...) - Just about 2 to 3 seconds of a Blank White Screen after the film first snaps and Myself and EVERYONE ELSE were all Shouting and Jeering thinking that something really had gone wrong!!! THEN THE SHADOWS START APPEARING... IT WAS HILARIOUS!!! Glad teh movies getting teh Love it deserves now... But DAMN! Why did it take so long? Its a great Sequel!

The director of Gremlins 2 being the director of "Legends of Tomorrow" makes soooo much sense considering how batshit crazy the show went onto be after the first season. The third season introduced Beebo, a toy that looks like a blue Gizmo but talks like a Furby. Despite Beebo only appearing in a few episodes, he basically became the show's mascot and was vital in defeating the Big Bad of Season 3. The Legends were given totems and combined their power to create a force of pure good- a giant Beebo, who defeated the Big Bad by literally hugging him to death. It was an insane ending but it's honestly my favorite scene in the entire series.

This wasn't a movie. It was special effects guys and the director saying, 'Fuck it, they gave us a ton of money, let's do whatever we want'. It's the anti-sequel. I can tell they had fun and I'm amazed they got away with it. There's a real disregard and even disdain for the original that people loved. "Fuck replicating the original designs! I'm going to make them all different!", "Fuck it, let's make fun of the girl's dead Santa story!", "Fuck it! Let's ignore the horror of the original and put a cartoon in the front", "Fuck these rules! In fact, let's make fun of them!", "Fuck making them scary. Let's give them googly eyes! And make this one out of vegetables!", "Fuck it! Let's just stop the movie and destroy the fourth wall completely for another needless cameo!", "The couple that died in the original? Let's just bring them back. How'd they survive? Who the fuck cares". "Respect the original movie? Nah. Let's spoof it, and bring in one of its biggest critics to slam it!" It's not a horror comedy. It's just a comedy. It's for kids. The jokes are just not that witty. I can respect them doing the sequel they wanted, but it was a slap in the face to many fans of the original. Audiences didn't like it, critics liked it less than the original, and it flopped. But kids liked it because it was a cartoon of the original. I HATED it coming out of the theater. But now I can at least appreciate just how much they didn't give a fuck what the fans wanted, and what the studio wanted. They did what they wanted & it's insane. I don't hate it anymore, but I don't like it either.

Gremlins 2 ahead of it's time

Gremlins 2 and Small Soldiers were perfectly timed for my consumption. Gremlins 2 was a horror comedy that paid homage to some of the classics of television. But it was a slick Modernist film showcasing an anti Modernist message. It feels more like a series of gags but still has enough plot to feel like a movie. The 4th wall breaking is a feature of the movie too. Sure, they were effectively breaking the legacy of the original, but that was what made it great. We had grown up watching it and now we were cynical and savy, and not without an appreciation of the classics. Small Soldiers followed the trend of the cartoon realism that started with Gremlins 2 and it was also well done from my memory. There was a lot to like in that era: Batman and it's sequel, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dick Tracey, The Bride Of Chucky, etc...

I resisted watching this for years. I’ve always loved the first movie and didn’t want to taint that experience. However, I just watched Gremlins 2 and enjoyed the hell out of it. It was so hilariously outlandish and camp I loved every moment of it. Truly a great goofy sequel that didn’t take itself too serious, and is just flat out fun. Highly recommended Gremlins 2. Such an absurd ride but 100% worth your time.

I lied to get in to see it, I was only 9, it was and still is one of my favourite films of all time. In the UK you had to be 12 to see it and at the time in the playground it was all the talk of who had/hadn't seen it 😂. I think it is a brilliant unappreciated piece of greatness!! They show it in London once a year as a double bill with Gremlins and it always sells out, Gremlins 3 must out lol

Okay, 2 things; #1, by his own admission, Rick Baker says it was HIS idea to put different types of Gremlins in this movie. He's even quoted as saying: "I won't do this movie unless you let me design some new gremlins!" #2: WHAT WAS WRONG WITH YOUR CHILDHOOD??? "The Loony-Tunes are for babies"??!! You DO know that those cartoons were originally made for adults, right? Have you SEEN a Tex Avery cartoon?!! I, for one, along with many hundreds of Loony-Tunes-fans out there, think it's a mark of prestige that they got to feature an authentic Chuck Jones piece in the picture, however clipped it was!

This movie was always a must watch for me as a kid. I must have watched it on HBO 20+ times. Loved everything about it and it still holds up well.

The Warner Bros Studio Stores had Gremlins hidden inside them. They were all named by store employees. In Overland Park KS the two Gremlins were named Argo and the female Gremlin was Ramona.

Mr. Futterman was said to me alive by the news report that played at the end of the original film. In the original film during the ending; a news report is playing on the tv in the living room. They go on to say we are interviewing Mr. Futturman at the local hospital. The actual interview is mixed out and then they go on to talk about how mrs. Deagle, when the audio is mixed back in, killed her husband for control over the factory to close it and buy all the houses and land to make something. This was all cut from the final film in being see with a scene they did shoot available on the blu-ray as one of a few deleted scenes. This news report at the end of the film is all that is left of that cut sub plot. Very cool it is official cannon but also makes you questioning of why he left odd?

Gremlins 2 is my all time favorite film. I have all the figures from Neca. I was about to rip you a new one if you were gonna hate on it. But alas, you didn't. Remove the googly eyed Gremlin? Daffy!? Hell no! He is one of the best gremlins period! The female gremlin is Greta. Brain is the smart one. The gremlin with wings is NOT a vampire gremlin but a BAT gremlin from bat potion. You left out they brought back Gizmo's owner, Mr. Wing. Also, this film is full of cameos from Jerry Goldsmith to John Astin to Henry Gibson. Next time do a bit more research, but otherwise a decent review. You earned a subscriber.
