For every Se7en, there was a dud such as The Specialist, Entrapment or The Real McCoy. So, where does the Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie thriller, The Bone Collector sit within this? By the time 1999 rolled around, was the genre in need of an adrenaline shot to re-ignite some tension and emotion from those classic examples, and was the pairing of Denzel and Angelina the actors to provide it? This is a great movie period.... Denzel Washington can play the hell out of any role he's in. I especially love that in the end, even though he's paralyzed, he still fights back, and he definitely gets some good hits on the villain. I don't know why this movie got such a low score, but i believe it's a clasic, and Angelina joli and Denzel are fabulous in it. I also love that they get together in the end

What a coincidence! I saw this film last week. Hadn't watch it since I rented it in a vhs store 20 years ago. Still holds up pretty ok.

My wife loves this film and I don't mind the regular repeat viewings (better than 2 hours of soaps every evening). We always hoped for additional films based off of the Lincoln Rhyme's book series, so news that a sequel was being discussed was a happy day for the lady.

It's funny, when I first saw this back in the day, I immediately knew who the killer was because I had just seen Very Bad Things and I recognized the actor. I thought, "He's somebody, not a main character but he's somebody and he's gonna come back," and sure enough I was right

I think you've been a tad harsh...I always enjoy rewatching this and think it's a very solid thriller. I did have to laugh though when you said you wouldn't spoil who the killer is, but then proceeded to show his face some 90 seconds later! :)

I always appreciate this movie and sit back down to it whenever it comes on. A lot of this is about Rhyme finding the will to live, so I particularly appreciate the ending.

personally i enjoyed it. Just because they had A-listers, doesnt mean the movie had to be extra. it gave wat it gave and i was tuned in. i like movies that make be feel like im watch a regular unkown person versus a big Alister who is known for their looks, wealth etc. the characters were stripped down and i was tuned in like i was watching the news or I-d channel

I saw it when it came out and I was underwhelmed, but I gave it a rewatch and while it has its faults, it is an entertaining flick, even if it's not up to scratch when compared to Seven, etc.

The bone collector was one of the best 90s thrillers ever made along with Seven and fallen also with Denzel Washington. And plus the song from Peter Gabriel and Kate bush don’t give up at the end of the movie ties everything together especially with Lincoln rhyme not suicidal and alive and well and happy to be with his family and friends and with Amelia, his partner, friend and lover. It made more sense than the other good serial killer movies of the 1990s which had the bad guy winning in the end in every one of those movies, which a lot of people were tired of seeing and even fallen a year before with Denzel Washington had the same cliche ending that seven, primal fear, basic instinct, usual suspects, silence of the lambs and Arlington road all had.

I Remember They Played The Trailer To This Movie Back In '99 On TV Alot. And What's Odd About This They Did A Movie Just Like This A Year Prior To This One But The Title Of It Was Called Bone Daddy.

I enjoyed this movie but it is the weaker when co.pared to classics like kiss the girls, seven, along came a spider, double jeopardy, ect. ... but I have a soft spot for 90's cinema 🎥 😅😊

I absolutely loved "The Bone Collector" movie! While I do agree that it strays far from the book on which it's based, I think that the great acting and cool New York setting makes it a great entry into the crime/serial killer genre collection. Honestly, I do think that your critique of this was a little too pessimistic, but I respect your opinion nonetheless.

Though I agree the 90s mostly introduced this, Manhunter came out before Silence of the Lambs.

Didn't realise, in the late 80s, that Manhunter was based on a novel. Watched the film with my mother numerous times but credits back then were of little interest. So, it came as a disappointment when William Petersen as Will Graham, never appeared in anything else. Had to settle with creating my own little world where Will Graham changed his name to Gil Grissom (CSI). ha ha

@@anthonymerchant2597 Brian Cox. I've not seen Super Troopers yet (just haven't had time in the last . . . 23 years!!!!) Time management is not in my skill set. ha ha I really need to pick up the pace. I do feel that Brian never got the chance to produce a "Lector" in the same way Hopkins did. I'm sure he could have, just that the script wasn't there. Regardless, the man has range.

@AshGCG This whole thing reminds me of how I found out about Where the Buffalo Roam from an Army buddy after he found out I was a fan of Fear and Loathing. I had no idea at that time there was another film prior that starred Bill Murray in one of his earliest acting roles.

Ironically, this is the type of film i usually enjoy, good acting and actors, but i watched it when it was released and found it boring and unenjoyable. I recently rewatched and realized it was better than I remembered. That being said it is probably not something ill revisit any time soon. . It is hard for me to understand why i dont appreciate it as i should. I guess all the ingredients dont come together for me. I enjoy a thoughtful cerebral thriller but sonehow it just seems bland.

Its a pretty decent movie of its time in tge 90s when we had a lot of these movies like Bone Daddy with rutger hauer. But doesn't really stand out today i saw it in theaters in 99 the audience genuinely loved it. I never re visited it til about 5 years ago and it def is bland.

It wasn’t that weak. At least it ended better than fallen also with Denzel Washington. Lincoln rhyme had a new lease on life and a new beginning with Amelia and the song from Peter Gabriel and Kate bush tied things up.

Watched it the night before it came out, was a protectionist during 99, super disappointing movie. Jolie miscast and lame ending. Denzel did his best, but it's hard to carry a movie whilst in a wheelchair.
