I love Julianne Moore. I think she's great and I do think she did a good job in the role of Clarice considering the circumstances. But of course it just didn't feel the same. How could it ever? That character is so legendary and well loved. Jodie returning could have potentially made the film so much better. She's the one people think of when they think of Clarice Starling. Enjoyed Hannibal but it's nowhere near as good as Silence of the Lambs.

I am a big Thomas Harris fan, starting when _Black Sunday_ first came out. I can't shake the feeling that _Hannibal_ and _Hannibal Rising_ were written under some kind of duress. He didn't phone them in, but neither had the tension nor believability of his previous books. Both were very over the top.

I would would simply describe this film as a grower. It's a mixed at first, but then it just gets better with each viewing

I like this narrator so much better than the other guy. This guy doesn’t sound like he’s criticizing and making fun of every little thing. The voice is good and I can listen to it the other one I kept turning it off after a little while.

This is my favorite Hannibal film. I really loved it a lot. I thought he was more terrifying walking around amongst all the people who didn’t realize what he was capable of. And that was seen when he gutted one of his victims.

I've always loved Hannibal as a sequel. I thought it was so daring at the time, and still do. I'm happy they changed the book ending because that sounds absolutely awful, so it's much better that Starling didn't run off into the sunset with Hannibal. I thought the theatrical ending with the brain eating and such was so not-Hollywood, and greatly respected it. I didn't give it too much thought that Foster chose not to return, the reason didn't matter to me. But had Hopkins not returned, that would have been a show-stopper as he was always the main character to me. Plus, I thought Moore did just fine. Oh, and I find the idea of Lechter walking around ready to gracefully pounce on anyone that threatens him far more unsettling than being in the cage.

I couldn't believe the makeup on Gary Oldman. It was so terrifying.

I actually love this film, I understand why it gets a bad wrap from those who love TSOTL being so different, but it’s enjoyable if you treat it as it’s own story.

I loved it, and think it’s a very worthy follow-up. I even like the book’s ending, although the best ending is probably the alternative one where Hannibal doesn’t remove his hand.

Awesome movie Deserves more respect

Ridley Scott brings a much more impactful direction and overall experience as opposed to the first one. The first one has breaks and levity for a more casual viewing experience, but this one wanted you to feel the pure stress and pain Clarice felt, like she was suffocating in unfairness. I love how much more raw and realistic it feels as opposed to the more saccahrine and "alls well that ends well" movie before. It just feels more grounded. You also have to account for the fact that the book this time ended on such a nonsensical, character-ruining moment with the two becoming lovers that they had to come up with a much better ending.

I hate how far they strayed from the book, on this movie. The relationship between Clarice and Hannibal was what made it so interesting and they crapped on it. Also no Jody Foster as Clarice was a huge bummer.

I enjoyed a lot of the book Hannibal. I just don't understand why Thomas decided to finish the series the way he did. Maybe he just couldn't be cliche.

I watched this about a year ago and it was ok. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't amazing or anything. The Dinner scene was maybe the highlight (or at least the main thing I remember). I still have to see Red Dragon with Ed Norton.

In the book, the wine mentioned was "Amarone", not Chianti! We got robbed of a great commercial opportinuty there.

Manhunter & Lambs were excellent, Hannibal was ok, Red Dragon was poorly acted without subtlety, and Hannibal Rising was a mess...but the books were freakin awesome! It's been a long time since I watched/read Hannibal but I remember missing Mason's sister's storyline in the movie. She and her partner are a big part of the book and lend some decency to Hannibal's character as you learn that Hannibal the Cannibal isn't the worst sort of humanity out there.

I think they missed a huge opportunity. If they had followed the book and let Clarice be turned the sequels would have written themselves!! Like Dexter, they could have hunted down and eaten other serial killers or she could have turned on him and left him presumed dead and seeking revenge with a huge showdown finally!!!

Hannibal is glorious. It shouldn't be compared to SOTL stylewise, since it's a completely different type of story. It's Lecter On The Loose, this time it's his game and not a tense manhunt like SOTL or Red Dragon. It's gritty, bloody yet classy, exactly like Lecter himself. I love what we got.

For me the SotL is reality viewed through Clarice's POV. Hannibal is reality viewed through Hannibal's POV. Not creepy and dank but glamorous. Clarice saw herself as small and mousy. Hannibal sees her statuesque and classically gorgeous and confident.

The first half and the entire sequence in Italy is absolutely brilliant and top notch thriller, but the second half just falls flat. On the whole an interesting movie, fairly good, but also a missed opportunity for a great movie.

When I found out how the book ended I was furious. I can't help thinking the writer DESTROYED Clarise. I would have preferred she die as the kick ass intelligent agent who was a rolemodel than be brainwashed into being a serial killer's sex slave. It would be hard to convince me the writer doesn't hate women and I can't believe he was able to write such a great character for the original. It's like he took Wonder Woman and made her a sex worker.

Julieanne Moore is fantastic, she is always great in every role she's had.

I LOVE the HANNIBAL Movie. I think it might have actually aged the best over the years out of the Franchise and I think it stands alone very well. It may not be Classic that SILENCE has become - but as a Dark Crime Drama, I personally prefer it the most out of the Anthony Hopkins/Hannibal Series. And I definitely prefer the Ridely Scott Movie Adaptation to the Harris Novel.
