Previously we’ve covered the iconic Six Million Dollar Man on Gone But Not Forgotten. It’s only right that we also showcase Steve Austin’s equally amazing bionic co-hart. The Bionic Woman, who was as popular as The Six Million Dollar Man and was an important piece of TV history for a number of reasons. It would give women, girls, and guys a new perspective on just how powerful a woman could be, not only in a robotically enhanced strength but also in their character. Lindsay Wagner's Jamie Sommers was something special, and not even a TV death could keep her down. On this episode of Gone But Not Forgotten, listen close as we tell the story of The Bionic Woman.

Speaking of other Sci Fi shows, that almost have been forgotten about, would you guys consider doing Total Recall 2070 and Nightman 1997? TV series, just a suggestion, thanks for making these great videos man.

She did. As a young boy it was "Steve Awesome" and what's this? A female Tennis player? I was a tad skeptical, but had to check it out of course. Lindsay pulled it off very well and portrayed a very likable character and especially liked the team-ups. They played off of each other where the sum was greater than the parts without diminishing either stand-alone shows, but there was something to be said about their characters interactions & working on the same mission. They could have had another year or two if they merged those two shows more often going up against the ten million dollar man and equally dangerous foes, true Bond level villains.

I loved The Bionic Woman as a kid, even more than The Six Million Dollar Man. In part, cause Lindsey Wagner was, along with Brooke Shields, one of my first and biggest crushes as a very little kid. I recently bought the series on DVD and have been enjoying the hell out of revisiting it.

Lindsay Wagner probably has the acting skills necessary to play Jaime Summers as an old woman, still bionic....but slowing down a lot, and with a lot more wisdom. I think a made-for-TV movie about an old Jamie Summers could be pretty darn good. We don't see enough 'old superheroes', and presumably most superheroes age much like everyone else.....and a lot of people spend twenty to thirty years of their life being 'old'....and a lot of the fans of the original series are themselves now getting 'a bit long in the tooth'....

Bionic Woman was another one of my favorite TV shows along with the Six Million Dollar Man! Lindsay Wagner was so Sexy, Down to Earth Kind & Loving and Gorgeous! She would of played a perfect Charlie's Angel at that time as well! I can remember watching the shows First Original 1970s runs from both ABC then to NBC Networks! Welcome Home Jamie, Thing of the Past, Jamie's Mother, Sister Jamie, Kill Oscar, Return of Bigfoot, Black Magic, Bionic Dog, Max, Deadly Ringer, Fembots in Vegas and Night Demon were some of my favorites! Wish they could of done a 70s Saturday morning cartoon as well! Bionic Woman took off with a Great Toy, Bubblegum Card, Fashion, Lunch Box, Activity Books, Halloween Costume, Ect. as well! Sad the show got cancelled and couldn't of done at least a Fourth Season! Hats off to Richard Anderson aka Oscar Goldman and Martin E Brooks aka Dr. Rudy Wells For Double Work in Crossing TV Network Ships back and forth at the same time!

Between the ages of 5 and 10, I was Wonder Woman, an Angel and Jamie Summers. Through those characters we girls learned to be compassionate, determined, and self-reliant but capable of asking for help and how to overcome setbacks & obstacles. Meanwhile, the boys had Steve Austin, the Incredible Hulk, and Superman as their heroes--which made us different but equal in all the same ways that mattered. Man, we 70's kids had the best childhood ever!!!

It seems like the creators of 'Kim Possible' also remembered 'The Bionic Woman', since their villain, the Bebes, clearly nods to the villainous fembots from the latter series! The title character of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' even shares a similar last name (Summers) with Jaime (Sommers). The wikipedia article on Jaime also notes some interesting parallels: "Parallels are drawn between the new Jaime and her 1990s female action hero predecessors, some commentators remarking on a likeness to Buffy Summers, protagonist of supernatural drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer,[8] in the sense that she has been unwillingly given a superhuman burden. This also extends to the relationship between Jaime and her foil and antagonist, her tragic nemesis Sarah Corvus, which has been described by reviewers as sharing similarities with the Buffy/Faith dynamic in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.[9] Other commentators mention that the relationship between Jaime and the Bionics program director Jonas Bledsoe parallels that of Buffy and her mentor Giles, much as the Berkut Group serves similar functions within the storyline as the Watcher's Council does in Buffy: that of patriarchal oppressors."

I had the biggest crush on Lindsey Wagner back then... lol What happened, the premise of the show ran its course along with the Six Million Dollar Man. Both shows were good and it's been rumored for years that a Six Billion Dollar Man movie would release with Mark Wahlberg in the starring role, probably scrapped at this point. The movies that followed both series that released back in the 80's should still be available to watch here on KZfaq, last I checked, free. Noteworthy, I had the Six Million Dollar Man doll, err action figure with the magnified glass eye. As a seven year old kid, that thing was pretty cool. lol

The BIONIC WOMAN and WONDER WOMAN shared the same timeslot and each was shown periodically! They were both moved to Saturday nights while Charlie's Angels took Wednhesdays! Both shows were later picked up by rival networks! To me, this was a clear case of a short sighted network with a bloated schedule letting two quality shows slip away!

The reboot series even recast the sister after filming the pilot and reshot her scenes with the new actress. Similar to what happened with Willow for the original Buffy pilot. Difference being that Willow was a drastic improvement after the recast and instantly iconic, and BW wound up worse. The original BW sister (if I am remembering correctly) was a chubby goth girl. While the character definitely needed work, she had a lot more potential and was a lot more memorable. The reshot version was a very bland rework, less personality, and safer/more conventionally attractive. All that is left leaves her as just annoying. It gives a good insight on what happened to this show. It was clear the show was going to take chances, challenge tropes and stereotypes, and be a far more interesting show...but was very limited in what was allowed to actually be done. The Pilot especially shows a lot of promise.

The Michelle Ryan reboot was also hampered by the network wanting the show to be a mission of the week like the old show, while the creative team wanted it to be more like the rebooted Battlestar Galactica where it had the same basic concept as the classic version but went off in a completely new and darker direction. I was so excited for that show after the pilot but as the episodes went on I lost that excitement. Network interference strikes again. And since you mentioned it, how about covering Wonder Woman. Another female led 1970s series that changed not only networks but decades between seasons.
