This terrific soup, one of the most famous dishes of French cuisine, emerged in times of famine. It developed its fame by being satiety and healthy.
Although it’s a French soup, we bet you won’t find it strange. It really strikes the Turkish taste. 😀
We’ve mixed the broth we made at home with onions and added a lot of butter to it. As you’re aware, the French don’t count something without butter as food. 🤭
The original recipe includes red wine but those who’d not prefer wine can make it with vinegar. We guarantee that the taste will be the same!

INGREDIENTS | for 6-8 people

3 kilograms of onion
1/2 liter of red wine OR 100 ml of vinegar
3 cloves of garlic
225 grams butter
1 liter of meat or chicken broth
1 liter of water
Stale or baked slices of bread
Grated Gruyere or Old Cheddar
Fresh onion
