I've tended to gravitate towards team guys, I don't know why. Warrior spirit? I never served. First Seal I hung out with was Nam era, 3 tours. Gave me my first diving lesson. Second was a good friend, showed me his MP5 and shared some gruesome stories. There were others, all top shelf people. An honor to train and shoot with them. I could listen to you guys all day. I can't express my gratitude for what you guys do, your commitment, and discipline. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I know this is an old one but what a great episode. Brought back so many memories I'd forgotten about from Op Telic 6 & 7 (2005 & 2006), British Army. I remember those foot patrols lugging round ECM on top of the rest of the gear. Killer in the midday sun. Forgot about the moon dust which was like 30% dryed up excrement from the open sewers, used to breath so much of that stuff in. Guys constantly going down with D&V. Remember diving into those sewers a few times as there was no other cover around me when coming under contact. We were always jealous of some of the vehicles you had. When I was there we had the 'Snatch' landrovers reperposed from Northern Ireland. They couldn't deal with the heat so 40% of the time we had to tow one back in. So funny you guys talking about that smell. I Always remember getting off the plane when we landed back in the UK post tour. You dont realise how used to it you got until that fresh air hits when you exit the plane. I forgot about having to wear the ballistic glasses. We got issued clear, yellow, dark interchangeable ones that always got scratched after a few patrols so you couldn't see sh#t. Ahhh so many more memories flooding back. Almost feels now like it was a different life and it wasn't me. Wish I'd found this podcast sooner. I'm only up to 65!

Nick Irving would be an awesome guest on this podcast. Former Army Ranger that wrote "The Reaper". Badass guy and awesome book.

Nick Irving is one of the guests I would love to see on the podcast. I don`t necessarily agree with all of his political views or everything that he says but that`s okay because he has the right to say whatever he wants and he has more than earned the right to say whatever he wants and I still think he`s a Bad-Ass. Jack Murphy, another former Army Ranger( who served with Irving, I believe), would be great, too. I would love to see Jocko have on guests like Nate Fick- a former recon Marine who wrote the book ''One Bullet Away''( it`s an amazing book, I`ve read it three times) and who was the basis for one of the characters on the HBO TV series Generation Kill based on the book of the same name by Evan Wright, Wes Moore( a former Army Captain who wrote ''The Other Wes Moore and The Work'' and he hosts the show ''Coming Home'' , Randy Couture- the retired MMA Fighter who is also a veteran, Rudy Reyes another former Recon Marine who served with Nate Fick and who is such a character he played himself on Generation Kill, Jim West a Vietnam-era former Green Beret, Mark Divine a former Navy SEAL,Paul Rieckhoff who is former Army and who is head of the Iraq And Afghanistan Veterans Of America( IAVA) and he wrote the book, Chasing Ghosts, Maura Sullivan a former Marine officer( it would be cool to see Jocko have on a female veteran, I don`t think I`ve ever seen a female veteran on the podcast) and Rye Barcott a former Marine who wrote the book, ''It Happened On The Way To War''. The actor and comedian Rob Riggle would make for an entertaining guest( he served in the Marine Corps for 23 years).

Man....how they carry water in bottles? The military should look into incorporating the body armor with a camelback style system. Water must have some factor on the armor as well in a good way, like if you put it underneath the armor maybe the compression when the projectile initial strikes would make the hard armor more effective before it absorbs and disperses some of that energy. Then for the mass amount of water needed you could incorporate a system where like you have an upper body suit with sleeves and all that hold water as well that can be accessed from the armor reservoir/hose right. And that water must have a cooling factor as well in the desert? Anyone???
