I actually really wanted to join a team that is in the MLS next program I was even thinking about leaving my current club, but after hearing what my club really does I’ve decided to not go. But this is a very good opportunity for young talents around the US to better themselves and progress to the highest level. ( I play for atlético Madrid Miami btw first academy in the states)

The US Development Academy caused the quality of players in the US to regress significantly. The average player may have been better than the average player before the DA, but the truly talented players suffered and became much more rare. Unless the coaching and emphasis changes, this won’t be any different.

I wanna join the Cf Montreal academy, and one day i'm gonna do it.

Just some corrections to the video. When you said some players couldn’t afford to travel with the team, that’s only on non-mls teams, all mls teams are paid for I’m pretty sure. Also the zoning only matters when 2 teams are too close together when it comes to the area. Like in Houston, Dynamo and Rise can’t be close to each other last year for DA. There are many players that don’t make the DA team closest to them but make one that is further away and can play for the further team with no problems. And finally Da teams were allowed to play in tourneys that were approved. Mls academy teams played in the Copa Rayados in the Woodlands which isn’t a da or MLS tourney. These rules either have stayed the same or didn’t exist before. Great video though it’s good to see some creators talking about youth soccer.

College coach here. I don't like that they're not going to get to play with their teams in whatever they want

Too much bureaucracy and rules for something so SIMPLE. Here’s how it should be: Each club should have 4 teams 1- Learning Level Team: athletes have to pay 2- Development Level Team: athletes have to pay 3- The B Team: paid but much less than option 1 and 2 and finally... 4- The Elite team: which would be TOTALLY FREE but as far as the athlete is approved in the tryouts. These are the kids that has to take advantage of the system. Charge more for the kids at the bottom of the “pyramid” just so those with more talent won’t have to pay anything. Not only you’re making soccer more universal but also allowing hidden talents (but with no $$ to pay for those clubs) to appear and finally make American soccer become relevant/more competitive to the world.
