I'm excited about finally getting our basement decluttered. We inherited SO much stuff when my parents passed away and my husband's step dad it's taken us years to get our basement back but we are almost finished!!!

I am excited to move into 2022 with some new habits for cleaning and becoming debt free.

I am looking forward to living life to the fullest. My kids are older and will always comes first but it's my time now. I'm 50 and finding myself. I also am looking forward to seeing my grandkids everyday(daughter moved in house next to me😁. Happy New Year everyone❤️❤️❤️

I have been slowly getting around our entire house. We have been married 10 years, and have moved 3 times. After my MIL passed away, I inherited a lot of her things. It has been a real chore to get everything back in order, but so worth it!

Tattered linens & towels can always be donated to the animal shelter. They always need that kind of stuff. Some they use for the animals. Some they use to clean. I can't wait to put down floors and finish my 1950s wall paper peeling project in the living room !

I'm most excited for getting this house in order and we're considering hard wood floors... Omg, I think that will be so exciting!!! Cats, oh, cats! I love them! We have 3 and have to feed 1 in Aidan's bathroom, 1 in mom's bathroom and 1 in the living room. The main reason is that our really, really big one will push the others out to eat their food. The big one was a rescue from dad's company's warehouse. We bottle-fed him and you can't tell it now. 😁 With your tall ceiling/walls, what about a big floral swag or a wreath? I love swags.

I like wainscoting along a stairway and that's a great place to display family portraits as well. My mom just made me one of those tie blankets for Christmas but the fleece must contain some sort of chemical that I'm allergic to because I had reactions before washing it and even after washing it twice. On the topic of dryer sheets, I've done away with them completely because I don't need anything else adding to my contact dermatitis and other allergic responses. That was an amazing transformation for a first pass through the hall closets and the painter will be happy that they're all nice and clean. On the next go around, ask yourself how many of each type of item you really need to get things like pillowcases and blankets down to a reasonable number. The personalized blanket and any other special ones could definitely be stored away in keepsake bins for your kids if they don't actually use them.

For the litter scoopers, the ones that get used to get the dirty litter out, get a dollar store cheap small trash can and set them in that. It's the easiest way to keep that area clean. And if it ever needs cleaned out it's easy to do. The bags usually rip and make a mess.

Pillowcases are a great zero waste wrapping solution for Holidays and birthdays. Just get some pretty ribbon and they can function as bags or as a flat piece of material to wrap as you normally would with a ribbon around the 4 sides to secure. Spare sheets work well for big stuff like bikes or ride on toys.

First, I wanna say Im so proud of you! 5k subs is awesome! You are such an inspiration. From couponing to decluttering to weight loss to gratitude, you have definitely helped me to want to be a better person. So glad I found your channel! Walmart has hotel style sheet sets on sale for 25 dollars for full-king. I think they are 600 thread count and are so soft and dont wrinkle easily. They are great quality and are reinforced around the seems. I got a set on clearance last year and they instantly became my new favorite!! Put you some small spaces in the closets or the dryer sheets is a good idea too. I'm excited for a fresh start for this year. Hopefully the world will get back to normal! All of the panic and fear can not be healthy for us as a population. Im TRYING to have a positive outlook and dropping my negative mindset! It's tough but I'm getting better! Old habits are the hardest to break.

If you really want a chandelier upstairs you could hook one up where the current junction box is and then put a hook over the stairs and swag it to the right so it hangs centered over the stairs. Just make sure you get one with a cord or a chain that is long enough and that you use the proper type of hook that is sturdy enough to hold the weight of the chandelier. I also think your ideas of painting the walls white and adding a mirror or two will do wonders to brighten up the space! You could even maybe add a small narrow table with a lamp on it between the two doors or on the landing just to the left of the railing pushed against that wall. Hanging a sconce or two on the walls to add more light could also work if you want (but that is obviously a lot more difficult and expensive) so I think the mirrors are a great way to brighten up the space and it’s less commitment than electrical work.

Hello! Maybe you could hire the painter to help you hang the art in the stairwell? If not, consider some picture-ledge shelves. Maybe 2 or 3? Then you can stack display photos and artwork, or whatever. Over on Knorpp and South's channel they made some picture ledge shelves for their dining room. Maybe have a looksie at their latest video to get an idea of what I mean. I think white shelves would look great and would really draw your eye upwards to all that great vertical space. And yes, a nice big light would really bring some new life to the upstairs hallway. Thanks Jodi! Looking forward to seeing the paint job all come together!

I love having extra pillow cases....when I am not quite ready to change the sheets...I just change the pillow cases for a little "freshen up".

one great idea I got from someone was for storage of sheet sets. I take all the sheet contents and fold into one of the pillow cases. The set then is the full set for a linen change and ready to go without searching for pillow cases and matches to the sheet sets.

I've found vacuum Space Bags are really helpful in the linen closet. Stuff stays clean, & takes up less space.

I love watching your videos and all the progress you have made. It really is an inspiration to me and helps me to make better decisions on what to keep and what to toss. My second bedroom is overstuffed with odds & ends. I have no garage so stuff has been piling up in there. I will have a friend moving in with me soon as she is older and cannot live alone. My little Sofie is a black cat. I adopted her and her brother ( who is a beautiful grey) wen they were 6 weeks old. They r so loving and play together all the time. I luv felines! I had 5 at one time but they eventually got old and passed. Now I hav these 2 and my old, old female...LuLu

Serious progress! I agree on not buying organizing items - I try to use what I have wherever possible. One thing I did find that has really helped my linen storage are these flat oversize ziplock bags with handle slots. Dollar General has them in several sizes. Priced at $1 or $2 depending on sizes. Some pkg have multiple bags. Some sizes are totally flat while others are gusseted. I put the blankets in them (folding them to maximze space in the bags.) I squish the bags as I zip and get nice neat pkgs. depending on your space you can sit them upright or lay on top of each other. Keeps items clean and dust free and helps by fitting more in the space. I tried the dryer sheet thing but found it left oily residue and I ended up rewashing the items. Nice job on both closets!! 😃

I'm decluttering to start to move. I dont know when that would be. I'm praying by this year or summer. So much stuff I dont need and with the kids growing up I just need to get rid of lots of clothing that they don't wear. Love your decluttering makes me get rid of thing I dnt need anymore.

I've cleaned out the linen cupboard dozens of times over the years and they just get put back in there. I started decluttering a couple of years ago and never seem to stop😂 my goal this year is to declutter at least 25 per cent of my stuff. What I have found is that I buy to replace what I donate! For a chandelier in the hallway you just need a hook over the stairs where you want the light to hang. Then you leave the cord extra long and swag it over to the hook.

A large mirror on the tall wall will reflect the light and help light the steps. It could be a statement piece as well.

I started giving our house a new makeover in October 2021 after I had put our 2 cats down (16 years and 12Years. July 6th and October 6). started in the living room with fresh paint never painted since we moved in 21 years ago waiting for the carpet now for Jan 10th to be laid. Then we will be moving on to the kitchen which also has never been painted since we moved in. We will be getting a new sofa or loveseat for the living room though because our old one was 25 years old. We will continue through out the house until every thing is done. One room at a time though. Like you are doing. We can only do this because we have no animals and we have paid our house off and our kids are gone and out of college on their own now. We have been building up our savings account so we can pay cash for everything. We will also declutter along the way. 2021 has been a really good year for us despite our pets leaving us.

Jodi you really help me save money doing the money challenge. I was able to get my porch enclosed with better materials than the screen which wasn’t working out for me. Hi Jodi, the closets really turned out nice. I put my extra comforters for company in those bags where you can suction the air out with your vacuum cleaner. Oh, if you would like an over the staircase light it is real easy to accomplish. They make a cover and a chain for where your light currently is and put a decorative hook where you want the new light to hang from. I have no decorating ideas because I am terrible at it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You didn't do OK, you did amazing. I'm not one to really say what I think anyone else should do because I think everyone should do what makes them happy and what is best for them when it comes to decorating. I would never be able to choose between your videos here or your couponing videos because I love all your videos. You definitely are so amazing at doing these and sharing what you do. I find so much joy in watching you and even more so, hearing the things you share because so many times they are so poignant. So much of what you've talked about since finding you had touched me in many different ways. And although I'm way behind as far as giveaways I'll answer anyway. The thing I look forward to for the new year is staying healthy and spending as much time as possible with my family because each and every day is precious. Yes, that's a great idea to do the dryer sheets. I've done that in the past even in drawers too. As far as animals, OMG, as you know I have 9 of them IN the house; we take care of a colony of 12 outside and altogether to date we have 29 that we did the TNR with, trap, neuter, release and this way all those that we've met along the way - outside - are all out there but not making more cats. We are major animal people. My husband even built what we call "cat condos" in the backyard. They all have blankets and dividers if certain ones don't want others next to them, and we keep them clean and rotate blankets, etc. to keep them clean, dry, and happy. I cannot tell you how much food I go through a week but we just feel extremely strongly about taking care of all of God's creatures as much as we could. We buy apples for the deer, my husband buys tons of big bags of different bird and squirrel food every week. Jodi, thank you for all you do. I am sure sometimes it feels that you're just doing it to do it but I for one will say it makes a difference to me, whether this channel or your couponing channel.
