Come to think of it, her career skyrocketed after Killing Eve! And that’s to be expected, she’s a young white blonde who happens to be good too. But Sandra Oh, the lead of that show, has been struggling for years to get a decent opportunity after she left grey’s anatomy. And she is an outrageously phenomenal actress!! But she’s not white! And not young enough! But Jodie, she’s already surpassed the clouds.
@naishakhan6162 жыл бұрын

@JacobJackson942 жыл бұрын
People so obsessed with making things about race at the moment... could it not be that these 2 individuals who differ in infinite ways, have different careers because of their multitude of differences? Are non whites never successful in media and the arts??
@AJolie0092 жыл бұрын
@@JacobJackson94 Did I just say non whites aren’t successful in media?? I never insinuated or made a broad generalization! I’m talking exclusively about Sandra Oh’s career that hasn’t changed much while Jodie’s trajectory just took off. These two actresses have different careers because the OPPORTUNITIES offered to each of them aren’t remotely the same. That’s the reason. If you’d like to sit here and pretend that Sandra Oh is being asked to do parts that are as good as the ones offered to Jodie, or as frequently, then that’s entirely up to you. Factual evidence suggest the contrary.
@jpiglesias83862 жыл бұрын
@@AJolie009 Sandra Oh got to play a massive role in Greys. Then struggled. That happens to all actors when they play great roles. Natalie Portman struggled for a while after Star Wars. Elijah Wood struggled after Lord of the Rings. Daniel Radcliffe struggled after Harry Potter. The entire cast of Friends (except for Jennifer Aniston) struggled after the series. Dan Stevens has struggled after Downtown Abbey (even after he left earlier to try and avoid it). It’s not a race thing. It’s a being pretty good at x role thing.
@AJolie0092 жыл бұрын
@@jpiglesias8386 Perhaps the only valid point you’ve insinuated is the fact that actors often struggle to break free from a character they’ve been playing for years. However, Natalie Portman isn’t an appropriate choice to make your feeble attempt of getting your erroneous point across. I’m not entirely sure if you’ve seen her filmography but she’s been doing successful films prior, during and after the Star Wars trilogy! V for Vendeta was released the same year as Star Wars Return of the Sith was. She even won an academy award for best actress just 5 years later. Daniel Radcliffe has been offered numerous parts after the harry porter films. Whether he succeeded at proving himself as versatile actor is a completely different point. And the fact that you’re conflating his career that started off as a child actor in the Harry Potter series with Sandra Oh’s experience on Grey’s Anatomy, is asinine! They’re not remotely the same. Elijah wood had his breakthrough in the lord of the rings but didn’t go as far because he’s limited as an actor. Or else why did other stars on the series went on to having several major successes?? And you mentioned the friends cast, a SITCOM, and expect me to take you seriously! I mean the mere notion is risible! Do you realize that they’re still making money from Friends and they’re not in any need to actually work ever again? Or perhaps because comedic actors don’t usually have much longevity as actors of different genres? Just look at Eddie Murphy, Will Farrell, Adam Sandler or Ben Stellar! Do you think they’re as successful as they used to be when they first got started? Non of them where stuck in a show for 10 years! I’m talking about opportunities! If you’d like to be denial of facts and live in your own land of made belief, where people of colors are given the SAME OPPORTUNITIES as white actors and actresses, then I have nothing else to add. Sandra Oh has been struggling because she’s not being offered parts! That’s what she said! She’s not being considered for anything. Non of the actors you mentioned were denied opportunities because of the color of their skin.
