Rest In Peace to Derrick Edmonson 🙏🏾🕊️ I just learned he passed award a few weeks ago. We had so much fun writing and producing this single and album “Affection” for my indie label Avitone back in 1995. One of my best albums for sure. In addition to “Affection” - “The Beat Don’t Stop”, “The Way Parts 1 & 2” “I Care For You” and so on. So funky, soulful and sexy! Derrick, and I also wrote and produced a few songs for my “Flower” album in 1998 (Baby Tonight, Everything You Do).He was in my band at the time, keys and saxophone and music director. My condolences to his wife, family and friends, he had such a larger than life fun personality and I’m sure he will be missed but never forgotten. - Jody Watley

Always been my jam.. I LOVE HOW SHE BEBOXES it for him. She told him fill in the blanks and I will fill in the other blank. Make it a little sexy, a little funky. A little Sade. A little James Brown. And a little Miss Jody Watley.

Jody Watley is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE LADY R&B SINGER OF ALL TIME !! Here is a perfect example why. She puts this song through it's paces like the SEASONED PRO THAT SHE IS. Especially like her mentioning in this song that EVERYONE deserves "Affection" and that includes GAY people. They are no different than anyone else in this world and they deserve RESPECT too.

Jody Watley’s Affection has a nice club vibe. She is so talented. I wish she would have pursued acting. I always thought Jody has star power. A toast to one fine lady.

Geoffrey White I wrote this with Derrick Edmondson my saxophone player at the time and produced it with him. I’d stopped working with Andre by this time. Also the correct spelling of my name is simply Jody not Jodie 😘 Glad you like this! I was just asked about it on my FB page so o came to get the link.

I always said she would have a bigger career than Howard when she was with Shalamar and she certainly did.

what made you think that at the time?

Because she can sang as well as she dances, compose and produce.

Can someone please post the live version of "Looking For A New Love" that is featured on this album.

she exudes a confidence that was pretty much wasted on Shalamar where she didn't even get very many leads
