That last mile was probably the best demonstration of the difference between a 5k/10k guy and a 1500/mile guy that I've seen. Crazy to see a guy like Ollie be taken out by a rep

If I may ask, what exactly is the difference you are pertaining too. Sorry I’m just a beginner so I was wondering what u meant
@322aareyn

@@santiarenas9028 Ollie is primarily focused on the 1500 which is considered mid-distance (the 800m - 3000m is generally mid distance range). He focuses on faster stuff so he was doing very well at the shorter reps at the beginning. Joe Klecker focuses more on the 5k/10k which has more of an endurance element (still requires speed though) so while he can't necessarily keep up with Ollie in the beginning on the shorter stuff, he is used to higher training volume and longer workouts and was able to throw down a fast mile at the end while Ollie was struggling. Basically the fact that Joe could still run a very quick mile at the end showed his superior endurance

38 year old average runner here...tried this workout today and it was brutal! Hats off to these phenomenal runners...I barely broke 6:00 for the tempo mile.

Matt's videos are the best! He asks the right questions and seems to put the athletes at ease. The long format is also fantastic. Judging by the other comments, it sounds like the consensus is that this style of training video is exactly what we've been waiting for. It's all substance! Sometime, though, I want to see a "making of" video where the camera is turned on Matt for some reflections on the process of creating these great training films. I'm curious if filming some workouts is more challenging than others based on the surface, the type of workout, the number of athletes participating, etc. By and large, do athletes seem eager to participate in Sweat Elite vids or do you find that people often say, "no thanks" when you contact them? Which athletes are the most fun to work with (be honest)? What's the ultimate goal here? Would you consider doing a full-length documentary in which you follow a group of athletes training for the same race or a team as they chase their individual goals?

Anyone else catch the bit at like 11:50? “These spikes are good, but not what you’re used to.....with the roll.” At least On have been transparent with their shoe/spike development.

@@pauls.2679 that sounds exciting tbh. They get so much say in the development of the shoes, like what Klecker was talking about with tweaking the Cloudboom for different race distances

The spikes are short distance only like 800-1500. They don’t really have a distance spike yet that why they haven’t used any. They haven’t released a distance spike yet but hopefully soon I’m sure there working in it

These are pretty fast sets . . . what are they doing the rest of the week? Are they doing "polarized" or "pyramid" training? I'm a neophyte when it comes to running. I'm training for long distance backpacking but I'm also interested in trying to do a cross country half marathon next year. Nothing serious but always wanting to learn the best methods.
