Growing up in SF back in the 60s-70s I'm a big Bruce Lee fan. One thing I think the world should know; Bruce was one of the first MMA fighters, you can see that in his movie 1973 (enter the dragon). Im not saying he is the best fighter that ever lived but he was a pioneer and a heavy influence on martial arts today.

-- Agree. Bruce is a legend, a martial artist and street fighter. Of course ppl today with MMA training would do well against Bruce, but Bruce took anything that worked DECADES before everyone and used it. He is one of the first MMA guys. I remember watching him do an armbar on Sammo Hung (in Enter the Dragon), and was like, that's kind of "lame." Decades later, I understood why the arm bar is effective -- b/c a majority of professional fighters end up on the GROUND.

I just want to say thank you! Thank you so very much! Bruce Lee was my hero as a child. I wanted to be like him, though I knew I could never be as capable as him. However I was going to try. When I was 10 years old I started classes under traditional Shao lin ( I don't think I have the spelling correctly) I'm tired... Anyway I loved the actions as well as the teachings and philosophy. In 6 months I was 5't and 78 pounds but I could take down an adult man at 6ft or above and 108 pounds. It was easy. I was like water. I gained several belts within a year but as excited as a kid could be, I met Sin the - master. He spoke with me for about 30 minutes while we watched the koy. He spoke of peace and harmony with all living things including trees and plants. It felt like I was talking to Bruce Lee. This man was astonishing. He held some Demonstrations from time to time, taking on 10 men and the most impressive was standing 12 ft away from several lit candles. He did breathing techniques and then threw his hand out, palm forward and blew out all the candles. My apologies for going on so long. Your videos take me back to the late 1970's and draw out many wonderful memories. Thank you, thank you!

I really wish people would stop defaming Joe Lewis. He never "tried to teach Bruce Lee Karate." Joe was a class act and demonstrated that in many fights and tournaments. That is not to take anything away from Bruce Lee. Both men were giants, although Bruce Lee's skills were never tested to the degree Joe Lewis's were in competition.
@friktionrc

It’s mostly click bait. As for skills tested true but only up to a point. We know JL competed…BL didn’t really study martial arts to do competitions. In the end, you said it right…both were giants and both had a massive impact in the world of martial arts…and brought swathes of folks into the various m.a around the globe.

I've got to agree on this. Watch carefully and I believe you will conclude that maybe he is moving an inch to make contact, but he is pushing-through the target and the strength comes from his rear leg, firmly planted, coupled with a twist of the hip that drives the power to the floor and back up through his body. Basically, it is a push that is executed so quickly that it looks like a punch. I am not saying it was a stunt, he may have not been aware of what was taking place since it felt to him as if he were executing a short, quick punch. @@user-ft2bt9kw7x

At about 1:58 Bruce lets loose with that right roundhouse kick to the head. His recovery is flawless. He's the only fighter I've ever seen that appears to dance with his opponent. Closing when the opportunity presents itself,and then backing off to re-set and study his opponent's response.

Bruce Lee was amazing and so was Joe Lewis . Bruce was great in his field and in a street fight I’d give it to Bruce . In kickboxing Joe would have destroyed him as he had a weight advantage and was hard to hurt yet though Bruce hit like a heavyweight he would have got hit by a heavyweight too . We won’t ever know but fun to think about . Also both fighters were skilled in poopfu . A very rare art and it was very stinky .
