I really wish acceptance is as easy as watching this video. My mother suffers from depression and perscription drug addiction. So much so that she has alienated herself from family members. I've tried to get her to talk about it and seek help from someone to talk about it. But she refuses to accept the idea that she may have a problem. Thank you for this video and your words.

Dear Joey Pants, I do have bipolar disorder and have struggled with depression most of my life. It has been the love of my family, the sage wisdom and advice of my psychologist and proper medication that has pulled me out. Exercise has been paramount in keeping my mood stable and being able to enjoy my life with my family and good friends. God bless you for putting the story of your depression out in the open. TD

The problem with Celebrity Rehab is that the addicts on that show get paid, and then they take that $ and put it towards their drugs. So in a way, Dr. Drew is an enabler. If it was a real reahab, they would pay. But celebrity adds a whole knew twist to the mental illness problem. Celebrities' egos are involved and that's the thing that keeps them from recovering. Money and fame don't help matters when someone's ego is involved. People not in the public eye can handle their stuff privately. Thx.

I agree with you 100% Joe. Compound what you are saying with people that have additive personalities and you have a perfect storm. I agree that it is not about the drugs and alcohol with most people suffering from mental illness. I worked in a couple county prisons in Illinois and Wisconsin for a few years, and I would say that at least 50% of the population of the prisons have mental health issues. Instead of being helped, they are left to rot by a system that doesn't understand.

This is true, Joe. I believe the reason Dr. Drew (and others) lightly dabble across the surface of the issue is because they are more "popular" in our society by pointing out the ill-described issues, such as alcoholism, to society. Let's face it, as a general rule people don't want to be told there is something wrong with them, they want to slather themselves in the pain of someone else. We are a strong people who deserve to care for one another. When will it truly begin? Thank you, Joe!

I'm probably gonna get shit for this, but there is nothing scarier than a textbook narcissist in the mental health care field. i think dr. drew fits under the narcissism umbrella and I could be wrong, but when he was on loveline he seemed genuine by how he'd get frustrated when Adam would be a smart ass and now seems more concerned(consumed) with maintaining his celebrity. ..

I have watched the Celebrity Rehab show. It is produced because someone saw a way to make a buck. A lot of the drama on these shows is staged to make it more entertaining. I find the show and Dr. Drew cheesey.

Dear Joe: I am a 47 yr old male that is a recovering opiate(pain pill) addict. 4 yrs ago I was prescribed Suboxone. Now I am addicted to that. I am very depressed, won't leave house, money has ran out, i have nobody to confess to. Every day is getting worse, i see no end to this. I can't even afford to buy my Suboxone. I was only on pain pills for 2yrs and now 4yrs on Subs. I know what you are gonna say, quit Subs, but its not that easy. I so much want to live to see 50 please help me

By far one of my favorite actors, especially on Sopranos (Ralph Cifaretto). But I don't think Dr. Drew meant to harm anybody. I know one of the reasons he left the show was because of all the suicides.

Dr Drew doesn't care about any of these people. All he wants is fame and money. That was his entire reason for creating the show.

I agree with Joe here that we must address mental health. However, how is what Dr. Pinksy doing exploitation? If adults sign up to be part of a program where a MD helps them get over their addiction (or attempt to) how is that exploiting them? Granted its on film but more or less for examination purposes. If just one person stops or says no because of the show it was worth it.
