I sparred with Roberto in Gardnerville Nevada. Before his fight with Iran in 89'. He was looking for Lightheavyweights to spar. I already had 46 amateur fights. I had such a hardtime landing any flush punches. He was so evasive. The thing about Roberto was: he knew how to fight defensively/offensively in any given simulatneous instant. At the time, and angle, he chose to make it instant.

I had the same experience with Duran, his movement was incredible. He would slip my punches and then do some movement with his head that made me open up and crack he'd hit me in the ribs. It was a quiet humbling experience.

Stallone initially didn't think he could win a fight but that he was fake good enough at boxing that he could at least hold his own. He said after about ten seconds or less into sparring he quickly realized Duran was a pros pro and was just toying with him. Stallone also said he was impossible to hit and it was very apparent that if Roberto decided to flip the on switch he could just pummel Stallone in seconds. Scary dude.
