I remember the scene where Moe tells Homer at an modern art show put on by Homer, that he’ll give him $10 for a bird trapped in one of the modern art pieces of it’s still alive. Then it cuts to the bird who’s no longer crowing. I wondered if the bird heard Moe and decided to shut up to avoid being bought by Moe or if it actually died. Such was the layered Brilliance of Simpson’s comedy at the time and the depth of each character. You just knew Moe was hated. 😂

Anthony could go toe to toe with any comedian that was in that studio. Great comics have been quoted as saying he had one of the quickest minds in comedy. I remember a moment when they were talking about how there's all these new diseases today and how its all bullshit, and Jimmy says " When I was a kid I had AHBD" Anthony asks "whats that?" Then Jimmy, trying to think quick, stumbles out "uh Adorable Huggable Boy Disorder" and without missing a beat as Jimmy was finishing the word "Disorder" Anthony says "Well I'm glad to see you've been cured". Jimmy couldn't get over how quick that came out but the crazy part is that Anthony had moments like that CONSTANTLY.

After Patrice passed away, it seemed the show died with him; just very slowly & more painful. Anthony, Patrice, and Yimmy has some of the greatest dialogue I’ve ever heard on a radio/podcast.
@citypopFM4 жыл бұрын
I also think if Patrice was alive we'd have an alternate timeline where he'd mediate the problems between the guys and the show would've carried on. Everyone respected and listened to Patrice because he was brilliant, brutally honest, unafraid to say what he felt, and was always right. Opie and him were really tight and as much as an insecure douche Opie is, he would've listened to Patrice. Ant's firing situation is one factor but after Patrice passed, that enormous force he carried to make the show died with him. There was no one else who might have saved the show but him and keep the guys together.

Opie was afraid of black people so he kept his hole behavior to a minimum around Patrice. Without the occasional brush back by Patrices verbal pimp hand the Nopester went full cunt and made everyone else uncomfortable to the point that two radio shows broke up, O&A and Opie and Jimmy were both scuttled by opies inner hole persona. As long as Patrice was alive opie towed the line fearing on air abuse from the one person for some reason Opie would take it from.
@michaeldonnan67672 жыл бұрын
@@From-North-Jersey You're wrong about so much in one paragraph it's hard to believe you're not doing it on purpose. Rather than rebut it point by point I'll just remind you Opie is the one who selected the guests and he could have stopped Patrice from being on the air any time he wanted. I've gone to compilations of Ant making Jim laugh, just to hear it for a few minutes, not even the whole thing. It's just nice to hear someone funny making someone laugh, someone who appreciates the funny. Two funny guys, making each other laugh. In terms of core dynamic, with no Patrice or Louis or Burr or anyone else in studio, it was the chemistry between Ant and Jim that that made it worth listening to, albeit in the knowledge that you'd have to suffer Opie's permanenstruation. Opie ended up paneling that show, but beyond that, he started to sabotage the funny by going to calls, or texts. Cutting the legs out from under them, _and_ people like Patrice and Louis.

Why Opie wasn’t great: 1. Soundboard: his soundboard jokes and additions always lasted at least 5 minutes and/or they were used to piggyback on someone else’s joke and totally beat it to death 2. I can’t blame him too much for taking calls because it’s his job, but he wasn’t graceful with it. The guys would be in tears laughing about a joke and keeping it going and Opie would take a call right at the peak of it and ruin it. But again, I’m sure it’s part of his contract to take calls frequently 3. His sense of humor isn’t even close to the Anthony, Jim, and Patrice. Good example is Jim was doing an impression of a sorcerer in a “Weird News Stories” set and it was hysterical. The whole studio was cracking up (i can post a link to it if you guys want) and at the end, the character “had to leave” and became invisible. Opie, like a bratty kid, couldn’t resist saying “but you’re not invisible...you’re still here” and ruining the joke. The more Jim and Anthony tried to salvage it to end the joke properly, the more Opie tried sabotaging them and it made it really awkward 4. He really like to brag about his life. It really does sound like he’s experienced some shit in his time, but not every story requires a comparison. He loves reminding everyone that he’s seen some shit and almost constantly dwells on it. Sometimes when he bring it up, it doesn’t even go along with what they’re saying, it’s just arrogant and annoying. In conclusion: Opie has a great eye for finding talent but can’t keep up with it. He really would’ve done better with the behind the scenes stuff.

Opie was regular guy funny. Meaning if you had a barbecue or something, couple of friends over for like 4 hours, he’s the type of guy that might say one or two things that are funny. So one big issue they had was for Anthony, it was strictly a professional relationship, like business partners. While Opie wanted them to be more like friends/family? I mean, I get it. You work with someone that long for two decades, but some people just look at it as work. No matter how long.

Ronnie B, Anthony and Jimmy need a show together. That would be incredible and they can prank call Opie every day
@JustDataReviews Жыл бұрын
Anthony is tremendously talented, Jim Norton too. I think they still needed a good third person in there to help drive the conversation. Patrice was often great for that. The support staff for OnA also really helped the show along.
@MikesOrganicVideos Жыл бұрын
This was really eye-opening. I always thought Anthony was the funnier guy on the show, and of course love Jim Norton. I wasn’t a regular listener to O & A, although I was for a while, and I was listening in my car when the whole St. Patrick’s Cathedral thing happened. I remember thinking that might get them in trouble. I didn’t know how bad the fallout was going to be. I genuinely think if Anthony wanted to do stand-up, and put an hour together he would sell out theaters. I have heard similar sentiments from some very successful comedians. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
