I didn’t find this as Yawn of a point lol I agree with Daniel; good quote, indeed. I think he’s trying to highlight that there IS a difference, which I believe is a dig at overbearing (inarticulate) people.

To have that emerge as a Truth and not a "simple" theory, as stated by N.N. above, requires a deep Self-Awareness; which seems to be par for the course for H.R. #DopeQuote imo.

It's funny to hear Henry express his anxiety to relate to people. I remember standing in the crowd of a Danzig Show. The show for some reason wasn't extremely crowded. Watching Rollins develop over the course of decades is so fascinating. Not too many people have had media fixating on their personality and lifestyle for decades like he has, or at least not many people as introspective as he is. Look at his writing or any video you can find of him from the 80s and 90s and he seemed like a wild animal, just a ball of muscle lashing out in hostility and fear. I think this version of him was probably buried underneath that the whole time, just a really kind soul reacting to the world around him.

Tough looking guy, former frontman of one of the most legendary punk bands of all time, yet he's kinda sensitive, wise, honest, and wears his heart on his sleeve. Not throwing any shade, he's a good guy, nicer than one might expect, and as a punk rocker I have deep respect and always will. I actually have even more respect now for his honesty and humility.

20 years ago, a former co-worker enlightened me about Henry Rollins. I'm not the most huge rock fan, but there was something about Henry that I liked. About 10 years ago, I saw Henry on C-Span, talking about photos he made documenting the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti. I'm an amateur photographer, so that resonated with me, but also Henry's insights on culture and how deliberate and thoughtful he is. And I completely overstand his love of solitude. I'm exactly the same way.....................If we really know each other, and there is something I can do to help you...........no problem, but I do not want to come to your house, meet your family, or hang out.

When he talks about not having or wanting friends or a family its like he is reading my thoughts. I was very social up to about the age of 28 but the last 10 years, socializing is a burden. My life fits every description of depression but Im not depressed...Im very satisfied and happy by myself. I personally dont understand lonliness, or neediness. I love Henry. About 10 years ago I emailed him because my best friend gave me like 20 hours of his talking shows on a cd, and they literally saved my life. I had fallen back into drugs, and never really grew up in many ways, and his moral approach to life was a great foundation for me. He actually answered, something like "Im glad to hear it -Henry" but it meant a lot to me at the time.

One observation I learned from Brene Brown-when you don’t want to just ‘hang out with someone’ as you are, but you’d drive to the ends of the earth to bail a friend out of jail, dude, you just don’t feel worthy of hanging out with someone unless you can help or rescue them. If you can ‘do for them’ it puts you in an elevated state-above them, so you have value. You’re so good as you are! Just an observation from someone who’s been there.

I love Henry Rollins. I find him really relatable. In some ways he's a more extreme, intense, driven version of me. One thing though, Slovenia is really not rough. Not at all. One of the lowest crime rates in the world. Even when it was part of Yugoslavia, it was by far the nicest part.
@markoteskera26036 жыл бұрын
That also caught my attention... being from Balkan region all I can say is that during Yugoslavia days Slovenia was always considered a good place for life, with beautiful and clean nature, good food, rich culture, modest, polite and educated people and very low crime rates... in 2004 I went there for the first time and witnesed mentioned things...

I don't think Joe likes that type of music really. He wouldn't know much about Danzig and I'd be willing to bet somehow Danzig wouldn't appreciate Joe's humor and walk out halfway through.
@robertalexander93654 жыл бұрын
Danzig, as a singer/songwriter, is one of the best. Danzig, in a long-form conversation, would not be very entertaining. He would most likely give short, whispery, answers with absolutely zero enthusiasm. The times I spoke briefly with him I'm the 90s, he was kind of a prick to those around him. Then again....same thing could be said about Rollins back then (being a prick). Just my .02 cents.
