Yep! And for crimes like theft under, which I would say are equivalent to crossing the boarder illegally. The truth is they made the decision, they knew the consequences and it sucks that is has to happen but what is the alternative? Keep the kids in the cells with the parents? They broke the law, they have to bare the consequences. We can't just let everyone into the country, all that is going to happen is the country will turn into another 3rd world country. We already know what happens! Look at Germany and Sweden... This isn't some unknown experiment we need to run in the USA or Canada to find out whether it will work or not, we already know it doesn't.

When American citizens break the law. They get there children away. Are we going to let kids go to prison. They should be with them if there going to a customs office tho and are being deported. They should be together tho
@MegaMapper
@MegaMapper 4 жыл бұрын
2 reasons: They take them away because it's difficult to control everybody especially in overcrowded facilities and if kids and adults are togheter you can expect pedophiles doing weird shit there. Remember that highly secured prisons with adults only have rapes etc. so from not-so-highly-secured ICE facility you might expect more of that stuff so that's why they are separated. Besides... it's parents fault. If they go through dangerous journey to get illegally to richer country it's totally their fault if their children are taken away from them. They could do it legally and learn english and get legal job in better country so their kids will be safe but nope... Instead they do criminal acts so they are criminals and criminals are taken away from children.

FYI, the separation of children from parents from their kids has been going on for years, and yes even during the Obama administration. The main reason is they cannot put a child with an adult while in confinement. If we did then you would be hearing cases about children getting abused while under US care? As with the majority of these issues the solution isn't simple and an effective solution hasn't been done with any previous administration! Our politicians have never really tried to fix it and never will!

The scary part is that their very parents see them as passports and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen where they just hand over their infant to strangers who need a kid to go to border to be let in. Another instance was an 11 year old girl who border patrol asked where she was going then asked when is the last time you saw your parents? 11 years she answers. Since my birth. Doesn’t sound right.

Depends on the offense. We're talking about a first-time, nonviolent misdemeanor, that was never handled in this way in the 180 years of there being a US-Mexico border. The overwhelming majority of US children with an incarcerated parent live at home with their mothers. I could go on and on about how those people at the border were treated far worse than US citizens in a comparable situation.

This is a bad statement to go on with. The goal is Plain and Simple, to not separate the kids from the parents, it's not a battle of statistics , of like Oh, these kids don't have homes, so it is okay for these other half of kids to not have homes too. Even with that being said, we have A LOT of programs here for U.S citizens (kids) that get aid if without a parent. Most of the time, the kid will have a relative to stay with, like an uncle aunt, etc. We have foster care systems, that take in children without permanent homes. Rarely would you see a kid not taken care of, if any at all. If you see videos of illegal immigrant kids being cared for, its almost a prison like system, they sleep in a room with ten other kids, and they eat cafeteria food.

SJ Greer The kids were told that if they didn't obey, they'd never see their families again. They were forbidden from hugging each other or holding hands, and when the Red Cross arrived they found the kids hugging their own knees. Kids were beaten and out in solitary. Some were forcibly drugged to keep them docile. Some were molested. But go on about how it's "summer camp conditions"

just my 2 cents here. if an American citizen has a child with him or her and gets arrested, the child is separated from the parent on the spot. I am not agreeing with it but merely pointing out the consistency.
@PoaTB87
@PoaTB87 5 жыл бұрын
@Trustin Lewis Maybe because they have other family they go to during the duration of time their parents are in jail. Or, in some instance, the child are in danger from their own parents. The situation is quite hard to understand without content. But even if they were separated from their parents due to a crime their parents committed, they still have the option to see them or call them. They are never far away. But the situation of immigrants does not reflect this. No visitation, no phone calls, not even a letter. None of that is available because the systems misplaced them all. Parents don't know where their kids are, kids don't know where their parents are, and kids are in a strange situation. The situation of American kids being separated from their parents does not compare.
@PoaTB87
@PoaTB87 5 жыл бұрын
@Trustin Lewis I'm not proposing anything. Just answering your questions. Why don't you propose something more humane for the illegals? Oh wait, taking kids away because orphanages are better then where they were is the better solution, right? Wow, and somehow being a liberal sounds less insulting by the second. Maybe you should take a moment to reflect your words a little long. Unless you don't mind being indecent, then by all means, continue on.
@PoaTB87
@PoaTB87 5 жыл бұрын
@Trustin Lewis No, that is good enough. Nothing more needs to be done at the moment, thank you. That new thing that we do? Where we separated parents from their children? That was too much. @Trustin Lewis Right. Under Obama. And Congress, with all their anti Obama rhetoric, didn't catch wind of it until Trump forced it even further. The Republicans, with all their dislikes on their former president, didn't even bother to bring this to light to show the people what a real sham he was. Right, of course. Either you are fishing for more excuses, or you are becoming desperate to not find common ground on a more cohesive solution for this immigration problem. Either way, I need sleep and I have wasted enough time and energy to try and reason with you. Good Night. 😚

The issue with children being separated is pretty simple, actually: There are a number of people sending their children over the border, but aren't coming themselves. They literally pay someone else - sometimes an uncle, sometimes just some offering the service - to bring their children up here. To make matters even better, these people usually claim, "I'm their father/mother." This puts the US government in the dubious position of trying to find out just _who_ these kids are and who _their_ parents are. I mean yes, it's bad, but we're literally trying our best to make the best of a bad situation. Some of these 'couriers' aren't good people, and will set these kids up with modern slavery to gangs. So yeah, some kids are getting separated and not always correctly. That's the issue you face when people with no ID or with ID that you can't rely on. Seriously, what is the alternative?

If you can't secure your borders whilst being HUMANE to other humans then try again. Snatching babies off their mothers breast (after telling them they are to be taken to be bathed) is CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT. They crossed a border. Not being able to temper the response to that is baseless bullshit.

You can't even process children with adults, it's shitty that they're split up but it's necessary! What's the alternative? If anyone should be held accountable it should be the parents taking their kids illegally across the border!

Someone else without the full picture. This was started under 44's administration. It only became an issue under 45's because MSM tries to make everything his fault. The reason they do it is because many many of the people with children are NOT their kids! They were kidnapped from their parents and used as a tool to get into the US. Most if not all of the kids taken will not say anything tell the person that took them is away from them. Something else I'm sure you're not aware of is 4 out of 5 girls that cross the border are rapped! I'm all for people coming here the right way! Open your eyes and think for yourself!

No, because it is common in the US to lose your kids after getting into problems with the law. There is only three options if you want the separation to end. 1) incarcerate both the parents and also the child 2) deport both parents and child at once 3) let the parents get away with committing a crime and let them go into US soil. A right that not even US citizens can appreciate.
