Wow! Can't stop listening to this. 10 times last two days. I thought String Cheese covered this song great until I heard these guys, who I had never heard of before this. Thank you KZfaq for popping it up in my feed.

@Jim Ramsdell: maybe they can bring Brand ford Marsalis in to play alongside them. He came onstage with GD at the invitation of the band to play this tune. What a revelation it was to the friend and to Brandford. I mean, he and Jerry added some powerful jazzy swing to this already swinging tune. Brandford playing with JRAD might provide another revelation.

@@yvonnelaurenty6427 he was only supoosed to play the first set closer. Bird song, with them but stayed for entire second set. I'm guessing you just heard eyes on without a net. He actually played 4 more shows with them in the years after the first 1990 show

Marco ripped that solo. And Tom was especially awesome on rhythm, particularly during Marco’s solo. Scott’s solo was great, as is every solo from him, but felt a little off and low key. Maybe the lack of audience to feed off? Also his tone was much different than what I’m used to from him in JRAD, and that’s definitely his usual guitar. It was a lot cleaner/less grimy than what I’m accustomed to hearing from him. And he was really honed in on higher notes up the neck. Honestly sounds more Jerry-like with the cleaner tone and high notes which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but just different than what I’m used to hearing from Metzger.

Funny that these GD cover bands are often better than original.
@smartluck1002 жыл бұрын
Maybe that’s because they are younger, more full of energy, and the technology is a lot different than back in the day. Still, Jerry in his youth is better than ANY of these cover bands.
@acm13502 жыл бұрын
Funny they aren't better than the original, actually.

Ya, its hard to believe sometimes. But its the music the dead wrote. Its full of life and will never die. Because its open to so much interpretation because of its original openness to creativity. So of course these talented artists are gravitated towards playing these songs. They're not just milking it like everyone thinks. This is expression and loyalty to a band and a scene. And I thank these young guns for doing it. For giving me the chance to experience the dead live. I know its not the dead. But if it looks like a dead show, smells like a dead show, and sounds like a dead show? It must be a dead show!
