He’s not going to get much sympathy from some people, especially those who grew up in debt trying to make ends meet. Some of that appears to be misfortune and some of that appears to be his own fault based on what he’s saying. It’s obvious that his wife probably used him. She probably got more money from that divorce than she deserved because the law doesn’t take all ethics and facts into consideration to begin with. That’s not his fault. With all that being said, I’m wondering why he didn’t get a prenuptial agreement. He also states that he bought 4 houses and then a fleet of cars. He should’ve known better than that. You don’t need 4 houses. I understand him buying his mom a house, but he still didn’t need 4 of them as well as A FLEET OF CARS. As far as taxes are concerned, he has very little or no excuse for not knowing about how much in taxes he would have to pay. All he had to do was look it up, AND DO NOT TELL ME THAT HE WAS SO BUSY WITH BASKETBALL THAT HE DID NOT HAVE TIME. The information on taxes is readily available on how much you’re taxed based on your income, and other NBA players like Jordan, Larry Bird, and Dwyane Wade and boxer Marvin Hagler had the same amount of taxes that Joe Smith had and they didn’t go bankrupt. Those guys, I’M SURE, spent as much time with their sport that Smith did and still had time to take care of their finances and read up on it. If you have enough time to buy a fleet of cars AND houses, you have enough time to figure out your taxes. I’m NOT judging him but it looks like he didn’t care enough to take the initiative to look this stuff up and chose to be reckless. He probably would’ve had MILLIONS left over for himself if he didn’t buy those extra houses and cars. Nobody deserves a bad wife. That being said, guys like him need to really find a wife that isn’t shady or morally corrupt.

@@ShixBfor two reasons: 1.) The point of the video is to address the highly publicized issue in his CURRENT marriage. 2.) According to what we know, his previous wife forgave him and continued to stay married to him (in regards to the children). Now that he's older, he admitted he was wrong, and that he'd never put himself in that situation again. It's an old issue that they both moved on from. It has nothing to do with this particular issue in his current marriage.
