My grandad in Poland had a rare Smile wrap Matiz and man that thing was great. Sadly the Matiz after 16 wonderful years had to be scrapped as it just had way too many problems.

Yes they are great but after about 15-20 years they get worn down and get more frequent problems especially with high friction parts

Ah, le Matiz! My first car, had it for 3 years. Lots of km driven, lots of trips, lots of memories. Pros - Fun to drive - Very practical for city traffic and parking - Quite cheap maintenance - Rather spacious for its category Cons - Inflexible build, making it uncomfortable especially on bumpy roads - Totally unsuitable for long-distance drives, especially on a highway - Faulty A/C and cooling system, prone to damage - Lack of decent safety (no ABS, no airbags) Still a very cool beginner car, I miss mine a lot every time I see one of those on the road.

Remove two cons It has double airbags. This car has a side airbag as well as a airbag making it quite safe. Besides its 3 stars on ANCAP And why is it unsuitable for long drives? Its a car with a very cheap fuel economy

Daewoo Matiz is very good car. I have a gold copy from 1999. almost nothing breaks down in it, parts are relatively cheap, burns 5.3 liters, which is very little. My copy, despite the mileage (254K km), is very well-kept and recently I was doing a tinsmith in it, and now I'm thinking about buying a second Matiz with a mileage of 108K km, which the owner has not used for 3 years and therefore has not had a review and there are a few things in it I have to do, but I don't know if I can buy it. Matiz, despite being a small and quite old car, drives very well, looks fresh and in my opinion it is the best city car from that period. I also have a Chevrolet Matiz 80K km, but it's not the same. Apart from the Matizs, I have a Seicento 50K km, it is very nice but still not as comfortable as matiz. regards

Its either steam , either smoke from burning oil, but to be honest i think its both of them :) , he its kinda over accelerating it and it tends to burn a lot of oil in that rpm

@@kirito4469 Hmm, doesn't it burn oil when accelerate fast? Lots of RPM shouldn't do anything. Depends how much you press the acceleration pedal.

Pamietam jak rodzice mieli jako drugie auto takiego matiza, nie do zaje*ania, nie zmieniane swieci, klocki, wszystkie płyny, ręczy można było zaciągnąć do pionu, olej 3 lata nie zmieniany jedynie co to czasem dolewany. Przez te 3 lata użytkowania jedyna wymiana to pasek alternatora ok. 10zl i właściwe to tyle nie licząc oc i paliwa. Auto za 3k a było pewniejsze niż za 20k, zawsze odpalało i jechało nawet w najbardziej zimne dni.

Toto auto bylo moc úzké. Citlivé na pohyb volantu a naklánělo se. Taková Toyta Aygo nebo Renault Twingo je o 12 cm širší a tím pádem lépe sedí na vozovce.

That's the car I have right now :) Mine is with 4-speed automatic gearbox though, which is really rare. Super comfy to drive and park in congested city with lots of traffic. This car is also very popular in delivery services in my country (Eastern Europe). The only real downside is: it is totally unsuitable for highway driving :( And you have to drive flat-out on gas pedal about 70% of time. Otherwise - a great mean of transportation ;)

Maybe yours has a problem? I've owned one for the last 14 years, getting to 120-130 Km/h is no issue and max speed is around 147-150 Km/h. And I've owned two of them.

@@matizul444 It has the old school hydraulic gearbox - these have a negative effect on power, acceleration, top speed and fuel use

he is probably a dealer, buys used cars and sells them for more (I'm not sure though) a friend of mine is a car dealer, he buys old broken cars, repairs them and sells them, I often see him in so many different cars, AMG, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, Bmw, Toyota...

I prefer this model to the Chev matiz....I had an O4 model in Electric blue & it never let me down,but was hot n stuffy in a Summer & windows did steam up badly in a Winter... But they are solid cars... Beep....Beep!😘

Probably head gasket failure. Head gaskets can fail on an older Matiz.

It's quite rare to find any units with original hubcaps. They are definitely not the most practical and tend to have scratches or major cracks throughout the years - that's why many of them found their way into a trash cain. You should be glad if you can find them in some mint condition.

It's a base version of Matiz, basically it's just a chassis and body with wheels and engine, so yes, there is no any kind of power steering.

5 gears? Yes - the only gearbox available in Poland to my knowledge (no auto). AC - only in the highest trim, named "Top" and only manual AC

In ads, they used to call it "little giant", due to the good space/size ratio. In Eastern Europe these were used also as taxi's, having a frugal engine, being fairly reliable and easy to maintain (unlike some people opinion). The biggest problem: based on late 80's platform, they were not really safe.
