Joel finds Alex crying in the doctor’s lounge and says he wants to ask her something. Alex hopes that Joel’s question isn’t too deep and tells Joel that her conversation with her mom about her pregnancy, the first since Luke died, didn’t go as planned. Alex goes on to say that her priorities are to just to give birth to a healthy baby boy and to be the best surgeon. When Alex asks Joel what it was he wanted to ask her, Joel hesitates but doesn’t propose and in fact, says the question can wait.

When you were going to say it, was it necessary for Alex to just say "my child is important" I mean, Alex bravo, your timing is great, if you said late for what he said a little more, how sad it is ☹️ I've always wondered if Joel had offered it, would Alex have accepted it or would they have been happy, Joel you should have continued it shouldn't have been this way 😔

I think in the end she did love Joel and he will always hold a place in her heart. But she was in love with Charlie. I felt more bad for Joel death than Charlie, because who was on the other side for him? He never got a chance to experience that love even for a short time. Now on another note if the Actor didn't choose to finish out The Originals and stayed on this show. Would he end up with girl? I guess we will never know. Bittersweet I know Alex and Charlie was the Leads on the show. But Joel leaving left a huge hole they never could fill.

I honestly think Joel wouldn’t had a chance. He would’ve continued to cheat regardless. The relationship they had was unhealthy. The irony is Charlie was asked to give her space and Joel became the wedge. It’s also ironic that Joel blew his opportunity with Alex again. I knew what kanda character he was when he arrived season 1 episode 1. Sad…

Sad many want to pull for the “bad guy.” Alex said it many times that a relationship with him was unhealthy. We also want to believe the bad boy can change and we want to pull for them. The question I have… Charlie’s response. I love you but knows alex needs to go through whatever she was dealing with but let her know he was there no matter what. He also said he loved her. Alex had to deal with her issues… finding out what was real and what was not. Love is strengthened when it goes through the fire. Not denying her physical attraction to Joel and the feelings she may have had…but love was revealed in the final episode.
