I would highly recommend people who find their surroundings "boring" to go out and shoot what they found boring in their surroundings. This will open up a whole new way of seeing things. I did exactly that and it has changed what I used to hate to something magical. The key is to watch the light. Good light could make trash into priceless gems.

Thanks for sharing your anxiety with setting up a LF camera in public! I'm 65 years old, been shooting film for a good percentage of that time. I'm self conscience about "deploying" a LF shooting platform in public. Great work, keep it going.

Bryan, I love your honesty about your reluctance to set up your camera(s) in front of people in public places, and how you much you are challenging yourself to find the inner strength to step outside the box as they say! I was just like that when I started in photography over 40 years ago, so I can relate with you Full Stop! I also Love how you analyze your photos and interpret them aesthetically and technically!! You really get it. You are also backing yourself up with the medium format which allows you that extra chance to work quickly and to get more variety when you need to. It's so easy to see how much you love photography and how inspired you are to learn from other more experienced photographers. I also think you are truly honoring the various photographers who you have been inspired by. I think that would make for some amazing content for your channel. Last but not least, You have an engaging speaking voice and a very pleasant "on camera"manner that help to make your videos very easy to watch and listen to. You've proven to me that you can do whatever you set out to do. I'll be watching you for sure!

This video is absolute soul food for the mind and body. I use video and digital film and photography professionally for my day job but since the beginning of the year I’ve blown off the dust from my film cameras and have been shooting mainly 35mm and 120 film. It’s been incredibly cathartic and I’ve enjoyed slowing down and just actually being in the environment around me as opposed to always just passing through it.

Large format can be a struggle bus for sure. We were shooting wet plate collodion in school and I had a hard time getting everything in focus. It was the only time in that class that I got a B on an assignement. Have you looked at Vivian Maire's work? I also really like Nathan Pierce, Sarah Christianson, and then the obvious ones like William Eggleston, Ansel Adams. I also like Joe Greer.
