Very Impressive Work! Thank you for this gem! I gotta suggest a video on an overlooked aspect of vocals which is the production. I came to realise this from a video that Nick Mavromatis did. Everyone focuses so much on the mixing when it’s only 50% of how to get a good vocal. Check out his episode on vocal production!

I've had the problem you described at 2:02 - the vocal doubler is a really handy trick! Do you reckon this kind of processing could work if the voice were replaced with solo violin, or another acoustic instrument 'in the foreground'?

Hey! Awesome :) Yeah it could work but I find that subtle early reflections sound better for violins, like an actual short room reverb to add width instead of this.

hey merci beaucoup pour ce tuto et je me posais la question mais devrait on aussi eq les reverbs et les compresser via un sidechain du signal originale afin de donner un effet de grandeur ou c'est pas nécessaire ?

Hello! Merci pour ton commentaire, perso je ne compresse pas les reverbs car c'est déja un signal assez ''plat'', et surtout pas en SC car ça réduirait la reverb si la source est plus forte en volume. Je ferais ça pour un vocal pour remplir les trous de reverb mais dans un contexte pop par exemple. Au final on a plus de grandeur sans ça car on a plus de reverb quand le vocal est plus fort. Sinon oui je coupe très souvent les low mids et basses des reverbs et pour les instru orchestraux je coupe toujours la sub des reverb vers 120hz

Hey there, really appreciate your content. 2-3 years back I bought and finished your Orchestral Music Mixing Course. I just noticed I need to upgrade my headphones (I like closed ones) because they don´t truly represent the 250-500 hz area and give me a false feeling of a full and warmer sound which doesn´t represent the actual real mix. Can you recommend some decent headphones for mixing mastering from beyerdynamic or sennheiser in a 300-400€ range? I trust your opinion and I don´t know who else to ask :P Kind regards

Hey ! Glad my content helps!! Honestly in that price range go HD600 for sure. Invest the rest in the money in SoundID headphones but only use the custom EQ to do a sub bass boost, dont let it mess the mids. About 3db more bass maybe.. then you'll have a really balanced system. SoundID is cool because it's both systemwide and in your DAW with a plugin. Cheers ! I have this setup with HD800S to this day. Crazy good and reliable. HD600 are great too although slightly smaller sounding but great bang for the buck

@ I found and bought some 👍. Do you think my Audio Interface YamahAG06 has enough power (impedance) to run these or do I need to upgrade?
