smell particles are much smaller than smog particles. It's no surprise that the air isn't purifying smell particles or even detecting it. I think it's a placebo effect that they're noticing the smell disappeared for some of the smelly items. At most, the purifier is dispersing the smell to be less concentrated when they entered the room.

Everyone confuses the street food stinky tofu with what you have there. The jar you have is a extremely salty condiment, eaten kind of like Vegemite. The "Sinnlig" on the IKEA candles probably refers to something like a relaxing atmosphere, because in German we have a word that is pretty much identical (sinnlich), and we often use that word when candles create a relaxing atmosphere, so it is probably similar in Swedish

granted stinky tofu should be deep fried to reduce the stinky smell, also have not try stinky tofu using an air fryer (probably stink the entire kitchen) but would be interesting

Was a funny video for sure! But you guys do realize that an airpurifier doesn't neccesarily get rid of smells, but just gets the 'harmful' bigger particles out of the air? The reason it measured more particles with the candles/incense, is due to the C02 being released while burning. The smells will still, more or less, stay present in the room. These machines are great for people who live in dusty apartments and/or have allergies.

I live in Canada where we have yearly wildfires and it gets super smokey. I have the Levoit 200 Core purifier and it works really well at clearing the smoke from my space.

that stinky tofu looks like the most rotten version of it you can get ... I love stinky tofu, the deep fried kind that you get in restaurants/stalls/nightmarkets. Also, guess air purifiers are really advanced now that not only can it clean your air of particles but also remove odors! Must be some really small particles that make up a smell :P

AW HELL YEA LIQUID ASS We used that for a marching band senior prank my graduating year; we sprayed it all over the band director's offices' storage room. It was fantastic.

From what I have come to understand about air purifiers is that they only work with removing impurities in the air, a smell in and of itself isn't necessarily an impurity, that's why you probably have some residual smell in the bathroom. The purifiers are mainly meant for people with various allergies, as it would remove the impurities in the air that cause the allergic reactions. Although, I'm not an expert on air purifiers, I can only go off of the personal experience that, even with the air purifier turned on all day while I was gone and my bedroom door was closed, my bedroom still had the stuffy smell even though the air purifier had been on all day inside the bathroom.

Lol the stinky tofu brings back memories of Taipei night markets where you'd follow your nose towards the smell of tooth decay, rot and plaque to find the most delectable versions of said dish. Takes a lot of getting used to but once you've had it and come to terms with it. You'll eagerly search it out every chance you get. Or maybe not lol

Honestly I might get this. We've been getting really bad smoke in the summers recently from forest fires and I also have two ferrets that I've just grown used to the smell of (they are taken care of well and eat well so they don't actually stink that bad. But some people just can't stand the smell no matter what lol). I feel like this thing would fix both of those issues! Plus when the neighbor cooks something God awful down the hall 😅

I think smell is too dilute for it to detect. Our nose is VERY well evolved to detect smells (not compared to a dog, but still valid). However, the activated carbon is much more efficient at filtering/absorbing anything organic in the air, and it isn't selective; it will do it's job before any sensor can even see anything. I also recommend you try surströmming. It is fermented fish and is known to be some of the worst smelling organic things in the planet (i cant say about taste).

I have a different Levoit air purifier and it made a big difference smell wise in my apartment. When I move in the placed reeked of bad cat smell. It took awhile but the smell is gone now.

Thing is that those small candles emit really nasty particles and the air purifier might actually detect those (and they are not all that healthy for your lungs cuz of the fact it's artificial wax rather than original-style true wax, that's used for those types of candles).

Stinky/fermented tofu: I know two kinds, and this is the one you'd probably see on Chinese/HK movies more often. Both smell like ass, honestly (and you can smell the one Joey's having from a mile away) Durian: strong, but depending on the species, the smell can be overpowering, but personally, I'm a fan. Some can come out of the fruit, fresh, slightly alcoholic, and other times, are used for an alcoholic pasty dish called tempoyak, that I'm not a fan.
