With the deep fried Oreo it’s best if you do a batter consistency of like pancake batter, that way it’ll keep all the goodness and it’ll probably work better if you do the snickers bar the same way but I don’t know how it would fare in an air fryer when it’s time to clean it.
@hitsujiyume

idk how an air fryer works so no idea how viable this would be, but could you put a piece of parchment paper or something in the bottom of the basket so the batter doesn't get stuck to it?

An air fryer is basically a convection oven(an oven with a fan to spread heat evenly). Usually when you deep fry something, the heat is usually instant so something with a batter would keep it’s form. So I guess that it would be messier in an air fryer.

The trick to avoiding a mess with the Snicker bar is to have it frozen when you batter it, then pop it into the air fryer while it's still frozen. The batter cooks, and the Snickers bar warms up.

I was coming to say the same, I've seen it done with funnel cake batter too. But definitely questionable in an air fryer lol.

Yeah, when 'frying' a candy bar it tends to work best when they are frozen and then battered. The batter helps seal in the chocolate and being frozen prevents it from melting before the outside has a chance to solidify.

Forgot about that part myself. I remember seeing a video about deep fried candy bars and yep, it starts off frozen. Also, as others have said, the batter wasn't the same as is used when it's deep fried and it's usually best to actually deep fry it so it cooks quickly without melting. This said, Joey has gotten closer to making those items than I ever have and likely ever will. I'm already fat, but there's just something about my pride that would hate me if I ever ate one of these, lol.

yup. to fully fry something in an air fryer, the best you can do is spray some oil on the thing you're gonna slap in there. The idea is that it's still way less oil than with deep frying, but you literally can't fry without oil, else you're just baking everything in what's essentially a convection oven

Most "chippies" (fast food involving deep frying pretty much everything) in Scotland will offer deep fried candy bars on the menu or an option to deep fry anything you bring with you. They also have a fairly synonymous soda called Irn Bru that needed to have a specially formulated version to be imported into America... because the normal one doesn't meet FDA approval XD. There is a reason Scotland has the lowest average life expectancy in the UK.

the oreo and snickers bar were doomed to fail lmao. the batter/breading for those is similar to cake batter and is very runny/wet, not like the panko breading you were using (also, panko breading for something sweet what were you thinking dude). frying those in oil allows the batter on the outside to get nice and crisp first so it doesn't just run off, though i think a slightly thicker batter that doesn't run as easily could work in an air fryer. also, rip snickers bar, you didn't deserve to be cremated alive lmao.

All he has to do is use thicker batter/breading and freeze both of them before applying the batter. There was no reason to apply flour first, then egg either. Southern American here: To deep fry snickers, oreos, etc. you need to at minimum chill it. Freezing it is better. Getting it really cold helps to keep it together and prevents melting. You can use this method to get deep fried ice cream too (it is an interesting snack). If you get ice cold enough, you can even deep fry it. Yes, you can deep fry water. Three things about the snickers bar: 1.- Freeze it first. 2.- Bread it again and again until you can't see the chocolate anymore. 3.- Fry it at the hottest temperature, but a very short time. It's kinda funny that the only place I've seen deep-fried oreos sold are japanese restaraunts here in America. They usually serve them with ice cream, and they're given as a substitution for cake if a customer has a birthday. Also they use tempura batter instead of panko so that flavor and texture turned out different.

Deep fried Mars/Snickers Bars are usually dipped in batter, the same batter used for Fish'n'Chips, this contains the gooey inside

In the video _The Standard Breading Process in 3 Easy Steps - Kitchen Conundrums with Thomas Joseph,_ the host's method is to use one hand for holding the wet ingredients and the other for holding the dry ingredients. This apparently works towards the goal of breading the ingredient instead of breading your hands.

My mom and I used to make fried snickers when I was a kid. She always put them in wonton wraps, and after it was fried, she coated them with powdered sugar.

Tempura or funnel cake batter for those sweets. Fried Oreos are great and snickers are hit or miss. Not sure if air frying would work with such a loose batter but tbh I haven’t used one before. Still fun to watch.

SUPER FUN FACT; when breading you cookies, coat them in low fat yogurt then coat with bread crumbs and air fry them, this also works with chicken but use an unsweetened yogurt with that

For the tofu add to the flour just a little bit of baking soda salt pepper and garlic powder. I also like to do it with panko bread crumbs. Smoked paprika is also nice with it too although some folks disagree with me on that one. I also like to spray a little olive oil on the tofu just before it goes into the air fryer to get it extra crispy.

I bought an Air Fryer several years ago, I no longer fry things in oil or in a pan anymore, its super easy and every regular food item I have cooked in it has been crispy and tasty as heck, especially when you can cook something like a pork chop and it ends up with crackling on it. If you love cooking foods like steak, sausages, chips, wedges, pork, lamb, chicken, anything like that you might put in the oven or fry in oil, air fryers are 100% the way to go, I'll never stop using one!

Isn't a air frier basically an oven but more advanced? Also, how the f is any super advanced device able to achieve that crisp and deep fried feel without oil at all? The science doesn't make sense to me...do most foods have oils in them or whatever?
@PhantomMan100
@PhantomMan100 2 жыл бұрын
@@samuraijosh1595 Maybe? I know a lot of things are put into foods we don't know about or are ignorant too, as for how it does it in terms of replicating that crisp/fried feel/taste, I have no idea how it works. It just "does", and since it saves me using oil for cooking and it lets me see how much oil/water and stuff comes out of the food when cooking it, I won't complain. It's been a great experience for me at least.
