Not all Norwegians were Vikings. Many more were reindeer and swine herders.

+mohamad akkawi "Eg lagde meg saa sildig" - its a song from a romantic theater piece, but in itself tragical - the title something like "I went to bed alone" - it is a young man just after receiving the sad news that his sweetheart wife-to-be has died - a song in three verses, ending with "nobody did I love like I loved her". In the 1800s and with the limited medicine of those days, sad and unexpected deaths like this was not uncommon.

+Yana Kanstad You told in your comment that "Jeg lagde mig saa sildig" is a song from a romantic theater piece. Which one? Best regards (Mvh)

It's actually not from a theater piece, but a very famous Norwegian Folk song, used by various composers, such as Halfdan Kjerulf and Edvard Grieg. Halvorsen made a version for Violin and Piano back in the 1890's, and then he elaborated it in this Norwegian Rhapsody No 1 1919/20.

The Oboe. A symphonic orchestra always tunes to the oboe

@@TheGjojoNot the instrument. The chords following that. It's sort of like a greeting or welcome before something. I have also heard it somewhere else.
