It’s quite a surprise to see the Inquisitor not being a total zealot wanting to kill all the heretics. A more grounded person than I expected. He takes seriously his responsibilities in preserving and defending the church’s authority but doesn’t relish the idea of punishing people. He gave Johanka a chance to stop before it escalated into trial. After the good ending, it’s heavily implied that he does believe the Blessed Virgin did visit Johanka but is beholden to his responsibilities in defending the Church’s authority.

I like how the Inquisitor isn't portrayed as a one dimensional villain. Sure, the Inquisition was brutal, unjust and so on. But people in those days believed in all that nonsense. They really thought they were combatting the devil etc. The Inquisitor isn't some melodramatic monster who wants to eat babies and burn puppies or whatever.

@@cat_city2009 The Inquisition was actually very fair and laid back , being far more lenient than Secular Courts , only having like 2000 Death Sentences over 800 years of existence .

True! I like how the Inquisitor was portrayed here. He gave a fair trial and was kind to both Johanka and Henry.

Johanka became my favourite NPC of the game due to this quest line. And many of my other favourites have prominent roles. I recently finished my survival play through, which your videos were an inspiration to start.

I just completed this the other day. I rushed through the trial and obviously got the bad ending. I thought I was almost completing the game because I also had the quest where where you go into the bandit camp with the special dice waiting. I quickly learned that rushing will get a bad ending and that is not anywhere near the last quest. Now I'm trying to get a tribuchet built to help Sir Divish take back his home.

Surprisingly many of modern rights of the accused came from the inquisition. They represented it very well. The inquisitions while a stain on the catholic church, are blown way out of proportion nowadays.
@SequentialGamer_KCD2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if the inquisition influenced procedural matters and things like weight of evidence. They *were* a bunch of clergymen after all so debate was second nature to them.

I love this DLC and ending so much. Still getting chills when thinking about that trial. It's an extremely important dive into European history, but more generally about what it's like to live in a deeply religious society and how dangerous it is to go against the only accepted dogma. I especially loved how the Inquisitor was the one that was reasonable and relatable, when talking to Johanka felt like talking to a wall, until you're smart enough to get through her. Change is seldom instant as it would be repelled with equal force, so it gave me a renewed respect for people like Nicodemus for example, completely in line with the doctrines of his time while still giving room for his own morality to shine through. Easy does it
@adamwilliams4342 жыл бұрын
You're an underrated youtuber, I hope you know that. Also I do love this missions good ending, the Inquisitor wasn't as bad as others were at the time of the 16th Century. Truly good dlc with brilliant accurate outcomes.
@SequentialGamer_KCD2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Adam! You hear that KZfaq algorithm?? *shakes fist* ;) I imagine that not all inquisitors were out to burn people and if you think about it the DLC wouldn't sit well with people if the only outcome was for Johanka to have a bad end. There had to be a way for Henry to influence proceedings and Johanka recanting is probably the most historically sound way to have that happen.
@srmelancia35232 ай бұрын
Didn't the inquisition have a surprisingly low conviction rate anyway like only 6% were executed
