His voice hasn't lost anything to age, great song by a great singer. I miss this kind of country.

Exactly...I can't even listen to today's "country"..it's weak, lacking hooks, soul, and feeling. John Andersons voice sounds the same as it did back then.

That is quite true. Unfortunately, you pick the brains of those same people who get emotional about the message of this song, many will probably tell you that they want zero environmental regulations to protect said lands. At the same time, you get their tears and emotions. Of course, their little feelings mean nothing if they are not men and women of action. They think it’s a liberal thing to protect our environment. It shouldn’t be left and right. Protecting our habitat should be something we all strive to do.

Been a metal fan since I heard Master of Puppets as a 12 year old in 96', and also like the more extreme Death metal stuff as well, like Death, Obituary, Cannibal, etc. In fact the only concerts I've been to were Death metal concerts. But I love this type of music just as much, for the exact opposite reasons. Don't get me wrong, I like the violence and anger of thrash/death metal. But I was raised in the country, and still work and live there too (i'm a logger) I like the relaxed heartfelt beat of this type of music, it just soothes the soul IMO.
