Those of you who in this video or previous ones, have most likely not worked with Randy. I am a living testament of the efficiency of Randy’s knowledge and application of it. I don’t get tired of saying that what 12 doctors could not do for me in nine years, Randy along with his co-workers accomplished in two months. During my first visit alone, I walked out paint free. This was not permanent, but in over time, pain has become almost nonexistent.

I can't believe they allowed such overbooking. Your deadpan description of the Smeagol release was hilarious. I just came back from SER1 (the Upledger Institute's first Somatoemotional Release course), and people had very subtle but profound experiences--some tears. No screaming and all felt authentic and earned. We were, after all, seeking out SERs. Ironic that something considering "fringe" by comparison has much more measured, grounded results. Trager is pretty much all rocking (and bouncing, weighing, etc.), and I've never seen someone burst into tears from that. I'm only studying bodywork to integrate with psychotherapy, so I am in fact interested in the deep emotional dimensions of it and also only studying clothed modalities for obvious reasons. I came across you via your jigsaw thumper video. Wish I still had my Dremel but I found a website that sells massage attachments for jigsaws at a reasonable price. I'll probably buy a random oscillating buffer first, as that seems a lovely way to warm up a lot of tissue with minimal effort in a short time. If you haven't encountered his work yet and feel ready to take it on, you might like Til Luchau's advanced myofascial work. It's used as part of the Rolfing Institute's curriculum and is quite ingenious in conception.

Thanks for the comparison - from others I talked to that also took this class elsewhere it sounds like my group was an "odd" "unique" set of people. Make sure that what ever site you get an attachment from that it fits the style jigsaw you have. I will definitely look up Luchau.

I completely agree with you, I took MFR 1 with John Barnes. I will never take another one of his courses. There is a psychological response with a group mind and I believe this is what was happening, A random girl was chosen at the end of day 1 and had a complete exorcism of an emotional release. It set the stage for the next few days of class. Again group mind, if you are expecting or wanting or thinking that is the response you SHOULD be having, then you will have it. I have been a therapist for 16 years, I have had clients have emotional releases on my table, it’s real, it happens. What I experienced in that class was bizarre. I have done some research on cults and the psychology of group minds since and am convinced it felt real for those people but was more orchestrated than anything else. It’s really unfortunate because this therapy is great and does great work. I also felt his class was more of a refresher. I did learn a few new things but mostly a review from my schooling 17 years ago. Myofascial therapies have been around way before this guy.

Hey Randy! Thanks for reviewing-- I just completed John Barne's Myofascial Mobilizations in Saskatoon-- I'm looking at taking MFR1. I had a very mild emotional release (light crying for maybe 5/10 minutes while I attempted to suppress it )-- but that was also because I was holding back. I didn't want to have a full out sob in front of that many people. Only one other person at that time had had a release -- this was day one. I don't like to have attention focussed on me-- especially if I'm crying. There were several people out of 68 (maybe 5 or 6) that had full out emotional releases by the 2nd day. I'm Not positive-- but it's possible they had the release because they felt comfortable and safe enough to do so. Being in Sedona and with John specifically, may have attracted more people that were at a level of opening up and releasing in that way. And perhaps because it was happening to a number of people, it increased a sense of safety and welcomed acceptance to do so. I totally understand where you're coming from though-- if 75% of the people in my course had had a release, it also probably would have weirded me out initially. It's just about trying to keep an open mind. Everyone is going to heal in their own way, right?

Thank you for sharing this- I've been debating the cost/value of his seminars for awhile and have never found enough positive reviews to tip the scales enough for me to go take it myself.

It'd be good to take his Unwinding class. It gives more insight to some of the phenomena you witnessed. And the ability for you to feel yourself so you can really discern if what you observing is BS or not. Also, volunteer to be a demo from John himself. Its a great way to ascertain yourself. As far as rebounding goes, John's take on it is what is different from Trager and other forms out there. The Rebounding class gives more insight into its application and method. You'll see and feel why it has the effect it can tap into.

Check out Walt Fritz and his MFR seminars. He was John Barnes lead teacher for 10 years, and has now evolved the techniques to incorporate a more viable explanatory model.

Thanks for the honest review! I went to a certain popular workshop (that I won't name) where I felt the exact same way about the participants and responses. It's just nice to see other skeptical people in the field who share their experiences. Thanks!

I completely agree with your positive and negative feedback. I can't help but feel that some people are just waiting for this opportunity to let out an outward response. I'm curious to see what the percentage of people who have an emotional release are when they don't know it may happen... in other words they wouldn't have a preconceived bias of how one should act if there is a "release". I think the MFR1 course has some great insights and techniques but overall I couldn't help but get the "cult" vibe as well. For those interested approach it with an open mind but also stick to what you believe in and don't take everything lord John says as an absolute truth.

John Barnes seems to be deeply into New Age and occult. You can see that in his books not related to PT. Thank you for sharing, i totaly agree.

You are wasting your money! I just came from one this past October and they make you watch a DVD. No live demos and everything they teach other people teach better like UpLedger Institute or Walt Fritz.

I have a few friends that got out of cult practices and were in it and what you just said is completely true, what they did in the class was NOT NORMAL AT ALL, those are things that happen only in the occult world and anything like it ... thanks for the info very helpful and I’m definitely not taking that class

Too young, wait until you're older. I do MFR on my body. 5 years of experience. The moaning isn't something to laugh about. And it's not B.S. either. I understand what John's Core is about, because I live it, it works when you learn exactly how and if you're a skeptic, guess you haven't lived enough life. I'm 65 and totally pain free and when I strain from working or bicycling, the knowledge I have, lets me reset anytime, anywhere. The foam roller, just a misused tool...soft touches but I'm also a classically trained musician so young buck, starting out posting a video...it's in the fingers and hands that release seems magical, but it's just our bodies going back in Earth's history, well before you or I or John was born. 5,000 years ago...so experts are just opinions unresolved but people watch them and believe whoever aims a cam to themselves. Living on Channel 5...I got Channel 3 on lock and not a professional, though my own personal PC, understands now. It's gradually changing, but for an individual who's curious like a cat....dude. Live longer maybe. wisdom is not necessarily for the young PT, not yet. I use it while playing keyboard and it allows me to reset so that long engagements are no problem. I'm helping guitarist to learn where to apply light pressure, close their eyes and learn patience, wait but most times I move like those you saw. See, in 65 years, or living 55, 45...your body experiences so much, accidents, falls, job related trauma that goes hard as it dehydrates. Plus we store memories of past trauma, life experienced in negative situations, like being robbed at gunpoint, extreme to you, you live in a safe city. I live in Los Angeles County, where two years ago, I work IT as a contractor, I was present during a violent shooting inside an office in, let's say, South Central...I know I had some PTSD but kept working since we were in tax season...MFR with moaning privately in my home while releasing deep pains in an elbow joint caused me to almost cry, because my fear during incident was stored in my fascia. You need to watch more or read online the things I have. But if you don't think you've had life trauma, keep on living dude. Without counseling, people in shooting incidents live far from your daily reality anyway. Not being dismissive, but I'm far more experienced with MFR than you at this time. It's apparently for private use what many of us are learning and studying. One Physician I spoke with regarding it, from India, knew of it's potential and power, saying to me, "It takes many, many years to learn this..." but he fully understood that I no longer keep OTC pain medications in the home. Don't need this. Dude I got this on total lock and it's helping me, my friends, my family, especially my daughter and wife, remain fully functional and I take away all the pain here. With respect to your schooling, education and video, I must seriously take it with grains of salt...you're partway in, and join others who went to the Barnes thing and thought it was insane. Go live more life and deal with things until you're in your late 50's...then post again, maybe watch this one before you post. Live long and stay curious. You're is just a review...among thousands. My lifetime of mental fascia. Besides John is humble, you think humility is BS sounds like. Why listen to your opinion, because its foolishness. How old are you anyway in this vid. If you block, then I know what I'm posting on. Click bait? John is something you should have avoided, you were not ready here. It's a yelp review to me, but I'm not you. God bless...maybe someday, it'll make sense. back to John's related. Strange...cult like...you were in a cult ? Sounds like...OK I'm going, I'm gone. Bad Mister done left the room. Booyah! I'm pain free because I get it, got it, use it daily. Even on my cats...using terms lick "fucking" this shows your mental ability to even understand. Overstand, bro? Probably pissed at me, your generation. Bad imitation, showing you still don't quite get it. You need to find someone else to train you, but wait...you're not ready yet for this, as said before. Crying is not about John Barnes comprehend. I sternly disagree but you have a right to post, I just know you're wrong and got licensed but too young. John has over 50 years. How long have you been a PT, just curious. Log more hours. Heal people using not a Secret...it's been known by your body all your life. Tune in, stay quiet, be patience, which is wasted on the younger ones and be open minded to all possibles, doubting Thomas had to prove Jesus was alive. Nothing has changed in my timeline. Skeptics are what they are born to be, it seems, expert testimony. Saw another who attended the clinic and training voicing his doubt. Why did you go there to begin with you must ask yourself and be completely self honest. Other than that, I don't really care now...I'm releasing my fascia with an inflatable child's play ball with rubber extrusions in an office chair and the fascia is playing with it, and releasing itself while I sit and watch Netflix. This timeline is about a century away from MFR becoming standard medical practice anyway. I teach my daughter by getting her feedback and she's learning to listen to her body as I explain the intricacies of the various processes I use, mostly two fingers with a few Newtons of hand or finger pressure. Straightened my own crooked spine from an motorcycle accident from several years back and all chronic back pains, for good. Legs arms, now full range of movement and yeah, lots of moaning, sometimes crying out loud, angry sounds and not, it's not demons, or if it is...then great. Don't have room for that in my present life. Waking up happy even in early mornings is a habit, due to my crying, moaning and getting rid of annoyance of dwelling on past hurts, past injury. Knowing I can, makes me happy. Your vid, was like fingernails on the old school blackboards. It was torture to listen to someone who doesn't know much and bashed a man who's been doing this for nearly half century. Next video, please, moving on. You're wrong. Don't attend anymore of John's because it seems you know everything. I hate YT for vids that seem pointless...Peace to you, not angry, just disappointed I clicked here. You'll mislead others without a preamble just saying, "This is just my opinion, but you appear expert and people who don't know anything to the contrary, might believe you instead of a long time experienced...oh never mind. God bless...all these videos are talking heads.
