The magic of this piece: cold isolated space, military cadences, vocal choruses - ethereal. So many sensations hitting one's senses simultaneously. John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith know how to capture a moment in audio.

It may be one of the silliest cheesiest Bond movies ever made... but my god, when John Barry does a space themed filmscore its incredible. Love his work both on this and You Only Live Twice, my 2 fave Barry Bond scores.

John Barry really had his finger on the pulse of the bond movies and his tracks really amped up the excitement which is sadly lacking in the newer ones

It's funny that with all the truly beautiful and amazing music John has composed that my favourite thing he ever did was the part that begins at 2:15 and appears at the end when Bond and Goodhead are chasing the probes. I always hear it in my head when I am under severe pressure with college work and it somehow always seems to get me through. It's an inspirational piece.

great music-great video...john barry was one of the most important and influential musicians of the last century in my opinion...esp w/ the john barry seven but also w/out them-his music has this weird edge to it that makes it different to most other instrumental stuff...his music did not only insprire other soundtrack writers -i personally think it goes much further than this...he opened up a new dimension in my eyes...

This may very well be Sir John Barry's most exquisite contribution to the 007 lore. Seriously. I know the actual Bond theme is attributed to him, but this is a masterpiece.
@pgsells10 жыл бұрын
This is very nice. It would have been quite something if you had been able to put in a shot of a craft docking at the ISS at the same time when, in the original score, the Moonrakers are docking at Drax's secret space station. But as it is, it's perfectly good.

Live and Let Die is my favorite Moore. He was both camp and 'serious.' A favorite scene is when Bond's pinkie is in danger of being sliced off. And the music was excellent, too, even if not by the Master John Barry.

Sadly the newer more "grounded" James Bond movies abandoned the shear insanity of the 70's-80's era ones. Which climaxed in Moonraker.

John Barry was a huge fan of Gustav Mahler, whose Ninth Symphony he named his BBC Desert Island Disc. I'm a Mahler fan as well, and it's difficult for me not to hear this as a malevolent variant of the finale from his Second Symphony, also known as The Resurrection. Given Drax's plan, it makes sense. He's "resurrecting" humanity in his image, but only with a select few whom he sees as fit while murdering everyone else.

Wow 😮 Added to my "Exploring The Planets" playlist, which is the highest form of praise 😁👌 Yeah nah, great edit. If the culture weren't so brat teenager snarky at the moment, people would marvel at the triumph of civilisation in all that.
