I was wrong about the sequel trilogy characters returning. John Boyega has said he will not be returning to star wars and given new information, I think it's safe to say that this is the end of an era for the franchise. I don't believe the other actors will be returning either. I'm thankful we had John Boyega in Star Wars. Finn was a character who deserved better and it's sad that we never got to see the character fully realized.

With the prequel actors, despite the hate they got, they actually liked the production they were part of and thought their characters were well written. When a cast member for the sequel trilogy can't even say that he thinks there was much of a character arc for his role, that's quite a low bar set by Disney :/

The sad part is it’s not even for lack of there being enough substance to draw from. It was as John said “I was Black, so I was pushed to the side”. It was formed on their on fear that he wouldn’t be marketable as a Black character because originally Finn was white before Boyega was cast Like everything in the sequels, Disney’s main priory was money over what was creatively better or even morally right

@@TheFirstOkiro look man for the longest time I was in support of the sequels but after watching several “documentaries” on KZfaq I was so surprised on how clueless and how much of a disaster of communication between the people making the three movies was that it seriously makes what George Lucas did with his 6 movies seem like he was doing the impossible in comparison with what AN ENTIRE CREW of people couldn’t

I'm not angry or shocked he and possibly others won't be returning to the franchise, but it does hurt a lot. I absolutely loved Finn after the tfa and even after the last two movies, I believe he had a lot of potential. Rey was someone else I was rooting for despite the writing of her character. I think given new writers and their own show, it would've made for a great comeback but all good things must come to an end. John is looking out for himself, and I admire that. Low pay compared to his other white costars and poor treatment of his character, yeah it would be hard for me to return either. Best wishes to him and his career for the future. @The First Okiro: I agree. Aside from the High Republic multi media project, Star Wars: Visions, and the upcoming shows The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, A Droid Story, Rian Johnson’s trilogy (if it even happens), and Taika Waititi’s Star Wars film (again if even happens), we’ve been stuck in the Post ROTS and Post ROTJ eras. And aside from the Mandoverse and maayybbee the High Republic, it doesn’t seem like Lucasfilm has a clear direction for where they want to take the franchise. We’ve been jumping back and forth between the two eras I mentioned above with preexisting characters randomly getting shows while potentially new and original films keep getting shelved or cancelled. I feel this is something the franchise has had to deal with ever since Disney bought Lucasfilm. After they acquired the franchise, they announced an animated series set during the Age of Rebellion (Rebels), the sequel trilogy films, some books, comics, and video games set during the Post ROTS and ROTJ eras, and two random anthology movies (loved Rogue One and haven’t seen Solo yet). I understand the desire to explore those eras of the Star Wars universe, but how to they connect with each other? It didn’t seem like they had a clear path forward, and wanted to try and capitalize on the fans’ nostalgia for the OT rather than venturing off into new territory. Now it seems like they want to capitalize on the appeal of the OT *and* PT.

@The First Okiro: Hey again! Personally, I like where Disney is taking the franchise following the release of the ST. But if it were me in charge, rather than randomly jumping back and forth between the Galactic Civil War Era, New Republic Era, and High Republic Era, I would take a Marvel-like approach of having different phases covering a different era in the Star Wars universe. The first three would cover the gap between the PT and OT, the aftermath of Return of the Jedi, and the rise of the First Order. An important thing to note is that most of the projects listed are official projects that have been made and are currently in development at Lucasfilm. However, some of them are hypothetical creations that I would have made if I was in charge of this new era… Phase 1: The Dark Times The Clone Wars: Season 7 The Bad Batch: Seasons 1 and 2 Kenobi: Seasons 1 and 2 Solo Lando Star Wars: Rebels: Seasons 1-4 Andor: Seasons 1 and 2 Rogue One Phase 2: The Aftermath The Mandalorian: Seasons 1 and 2 The Book of Boba Fett The Mandalorian Season 3 Ahsoka: Seasons 1 and 2 Jedi Reborn (A series revolving around Luke Skywalker forming his Jedi Academy): Season 1 Rise of the New Republic (I would have this show revolve around Leia helping other higher ranking members of the Rebel Alliance form the New Republic): Season 1 Jedi Reborn: Season 2 Rise of the New Republic: Season 2 Jedi Reborn: Season 3 The Mandalorian: Season 4 Phase 3: Preserving Legacies The Legacy Saga: Luke’s Jedi Academy and the New Republic must stop the First Order (led by Grand Admiral Thrawn) from taking over the Galaxy. Episode 1 Episode 2 Episode 3 Episode 4 Episode 5 Episode 6 That’s all I’ve got for now, but I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

That's how you know the actors know that the sequel trilogy movies are trash. If these movies were so great as everyone claims they are, these actors would be jumping at any chance to reprise the roles. Nope. Why return to meaningless characters that have no sense of direction and no character arcs? Hopefully next time Lucasfilm/Disney actually take the time to plot out the story and characters.

It'd be nice to see Finn in a new animated series or video game. Maybe something about the Grysk that Zahn are working on. So far all we've had of post-sequel content is the Lego specials and they're not really that interesting, though they still treats Finn better than the Last Jedi. I'm personally relived that we won't get Rian Johnson's trilogy, but at the same time I'm tired of all the nonsense that gets announced only to be canceled. The fact that so many directors treat Star Wars like a second degree issue, that they'll do only if and when they have the time for it, should really tell you something. In the future I'm most looking forward to Mando and Vision 2, because at least they have passion behind them, something Lucasfilm has really been missing for a long time

Also the overly reliance on nostalgia is definitely the weakest point of the series for now. I don't blame him and people may disagree with me when I say I don't blame JJ either. I blame Rian Johnson. He had full control the middle of Finn's arc and he pushed him aside. JJ tried to fix it in Episode 9 but it was too late. At 2:13 he does say, he won't portray Finn "for now", this might change but as of right now I back his decision to leave the role to the side at this current moment. It's sad but it's understandable.
@windghost2
@windghost2 Жыл бұрын
I never blamed JJ. I always felt sorry for him. Clearly, he had a vision for tfa and tros, but Disney interfered in both movies and denied them their full potential. I also blame Rian; it's been 5 years since TLJ and just thinking about it still hurts my soul. He sidelined the man whose choices literally started the trilogy to focus heavily on Kylo and Rey. Two people who honestly had no dynamic with each other due to the whole "Reylo" thing he kept pushing, it would've been better if they were cousins instead so they could actually have a good dynamic between how the choices and decisions they made lead them down different paths despite their upbringings. Sorry let me get back on topic. Finn is the person who started the trilogy, a man whose decision to defect from The First Order set things in motion for the ST to begin and Rian could've expanded on that, how Finn leaving the FO and fighting against them caused other stormtroopers to get some ideas or how he gave people across the galaxy hope; because if a man who was child soldier could fight against his oppressors and the people who were using him to fight a war and win, then they could fight back against them too. He also could've done more with his force sensitivity and have Finn become more attuned to the force. Maybe force echo but instead touching in object to feel it's history, he would literally *feel* the history of the environment he's in or he could sense emotions and "aura" through the force, and it would be able to help him out with missions or determining how the Resistance could settle down on a new planet or I Dunno, just SOMETHING other than what we got in TLJ. My point is Rian could've done more with Finn, but he unfortunately didn't truly understand who Finn is as a character. He only saw him in his viewpoint when the previous movie already tells us who Finn is and what he's capable of. Rian didn't get it and because of that he sidelined Finn and did his own thing, and we all know what happened there. Sorry for the long post.

If anyone wants to explore a universe that's fleshed out with fantastic characters, I recommend Mass Effect. One of the best Sci-Fi franchises out there. All characters are fantastically written, the story is awesome and the choices you make actually matter. If you prefer something more fantasy I'd say The Elder Scrolls. Most people already played Skyrim to death but there's a lot more to explore. Morrowind is my all-time favourite and if there's one tip I must give a new player that want to play it, it would be to select your race and skills depending on what you want to play. Say, if you want a mage go for a High Elf and select Destruction, Alteration and some other skills depending on what you want as your major skills, stock up on restore magica potions and cast spells harder than Gandalf. Or if you want to go with longswords and actually hit something: Nord with Heavy Armour and Longsword as your major, keep your fatigue(stamina) above 75% and you're all good 😎 So yeah, go out there and explore these worlds. They have a lot to offer and Disney isn't involved which is always good.

The thing with Star Wars is that it doesn't need new content. The Lucas films were that good. Personally, I like the Old Republic too, especially the KOTOR games. I'm never done with it because the old stuff is what's interesting to me.

We’re in the same boat, fam. I’ve really struggled to look past Star Wars. It was my everything but also what gave me a platform. It’s been with me so long that it’s scary to think of anything else. However I think it’s healthy to walk away when you’re not happy. I’m hoping by talking about other projects and stories that are currently running, I can help people find an alternative I think it’s especially hard because we as people have been programmed to follow any ongoing franchises. So we have a lot of reprogramming to do

That's main problem of disney star wars, just products nothing less and more That's why i enjoyed prequel trilogy and love ot and clone wars. George Luca can write good story, yeah you can make fun the prequel trilogy but there's one thing that disney star wars is heavily lacking is passion. Just mostly disney star wars (imo) just never hits because the story and characters is hollow, poor written & directed and retcons everything that star wars build over the years, the world build is lacking and just nothing and aimless. I'm so sick of between prequel and ot, we know everything about it, just do something new or explore something that we haven't explored, I would love to see aftermath of Rotj and between of sequel trilogy and aftermath of rots. I know we've never gone getting for very long time because disney/Lucasfilm really want to keep kicking dead horse, overusing prequel & ot characters to get more money and not making no new and interesting characters if we do we just gonna underused them and do nothing about it. More tv shows just feels rush and need more time in the oven, I just don't understand why they pulling mcu schedule, it really doesn't need it, just let them take their time and effort so it can good, it's hurting yourself and fans. Speaking of fans, Oh boyyyy, all I have to say is this, ppl, we gonna chill out, ppl who likes/being very bias every disney star wars star wars, please be honest yourself, it's ok to be critical a show/movie/game and comics/books, just sucking up disney just telling them, just keep putting out every mid/bland show or etc and it hurts star wars really bad and to overheated star wars fans, please stop abusing directors and actors especially the sweating rascal fans seriously chill out and fuck off. To the valid and well made criticism star wars fans, those i completely agree because they're right and it just been meh and/or really really bad With lackster story and characters Heavy and not earned fan service Just no substitute at all just hollow action back to back. Now this just pretty much make me want to stop watch any star wars content until something actually good show/movie comes out

Very fair and balanced take on all the problems with Star Wars today. Disney essentially removed the heart from Star Wars when they cut Lucas loose and, aside from possibly The Mandalorian, it's just been a shambling corpse twitching with the final impulses of George's creativity and work ever since.

As always, I fully agree with you. Unfortunately, Disney are going to keep going back to the well with the Rebellion era stories simply because, as you said, they make money, but also because the rebellion happened in so many little pockets, there is almost limitless chances to make something from it. It does need a George Lucas to be the idea person for it. Maybe that's Feloni if he can come up with stories that don't include Mandalore and/or Asoka. But it needs someone to be that voice at the top

Sadly Filoni has become part of the problem. His main concern is only the Mandalorians and mainly Ahsoka. We need someone who isn’t just a giant fan boy or Star Wars but someone who loves it enough to know it needs to change and evolve but not forget why it’s special, now what makes it recognizable.

I hate seeing Solar Conflicts in this state. I’d love to see the Sequel cast come back but the damage is done and the wounds have never sealed. No blame on Boyega. Rian did him dirty despite him being the co star. Things coulda been so much better. Kenobi feels like the last good piece of content we’ll get. My favorite Disney era projects: TFA, R1, Battlefront 2015-17, Squadrons, and Kenobi. Now it just feels like superhero stuff. Again. If this is it then it’s been an honor Mr. Okiro.

Star Wars was doomed the moment they decided to do Empire vs Rebels 2.0. Now that they are stuck in the Rise of the Empire era. And it just proves to me that Star Wars is dead. So long A Disney keeps beating the dead horse that is the Original Trilogy era, Star Wars is dead. It refuses to grow or change. All we get now is memberberries and nostalgia porn. Disney is looking in the past instead of looking toward the future and that is a problem.

Very much agree. The idea to make the sequels a remake of the OT was a disaster as it undid what the OT did and was a story we had seen before done better. I am so bored of seeing star wars storys that are about a plucky bunch of rebels fighting an evil galactic empire. Can they please give us a new story.

Why are we so desperate for new content though? I mean movies like Back to the Future have a great fanbase and they are doing great. It's been like that with Star Wars for years before the prequels. The games fill the void imo.

Game wise star wars hasn't really pump put 2 bangers, books are meh and ot centered around an era already explore meanwhile other ip are pushing forward into new ground. Back to future, isn't a long or huge franchise like star wars, marvel, dc, certain anime, etc/ what story would tell in it before it get worn down onto levels or terminator genesis

The irony of this Finn/Boyega tragedy is this is THE WORST time for him to leave cause Lucasfilm now has more freedom than they ever had under Iger.. &it's not just because that meddling bastad is gone but because the new guy Bob chapel put in charge of handling all the divisions (Kareem) seems to have a quality >>> quantity &anti fandom menace/in el appeasement ethos that's trickled down into almost everything dsneys got coming out recently Under Bob Iger we'd NEVER have got a superhero teen show that gives us history dumps on how british colonialism destroyed India &displaced millions NEVER.. he'd be too busy ordering reshoots to suck up to anti-sjws or whatever those racist bigots call themselves these days also it's pretty ironic that you think Obiwan &andor etc are "milking" star wars but you're a huge fan of clone wars & rebels which are some of the most tenuous drawn out ridiculously pointless shows in existence But something like andor which draws on similar era but from a more serious perspective is what u choose to ignore or talk down on.. something u need to remember that alot of these fandom menacers &whine merchants always forget.. this is a GALAXY far far away.. there can NEVER be too many stories or POVs.. there are TRILLIONS of different possible stories & characters THATS what makes star wars special.. the possibilities &the imagination that comes with that.
