PLAYBACK
Life memorializes
in high resolution
except the gaps
where habitually reside
just above the waterline
stenotic branches
brined and brittle
barely obligated
by stiff breezes
to dip between ripples
groping for patterns
like the bamboo needle
swimming in resin
on an ancient Victrola.
