Takes a lot of power to pull that 13 shank. Putting that 620RX to the test. The 2730's do a nice job, even breaking up compaction. Always enjoy your videos Jason!! GO BTP!!👍👍

The 2730 is big. The 13 shank a 55 hp per shank in tough conditions would require 715 hp.

We run a johndeere 2730 as well but ours is 11 shanks at 22 feet wide. We pull ours with a case 580 afs connect quadtrac. The 2730 is a great heavy tillage tool they work extremely well on corn stalks. We actually switched from a 9rx to quadtracs this fall . We found the case has a better transmission and more pulling power for our operation. We bought a 500 afs connect rowtrac quadtrac as well . We will plant with the rowtrac and do our tillage with the 580 . Its nice to see some Michigan farming on the channel. I farm in southern Michigan and northern Ohio. It may be the Tru Set that I talk about in the video where the operator can adjust any component of the 2370 on the go to meet field conditions. Each part can be raised and lowered on its own.

Were there rocks in the field? Can't see any but at times you could hear them, or at least it sounded like rocks hitting the firming roller.

I did not have any sound of this tractor working. It was all filmed with s drone. I had to use a 9620RX I filmed using a Wishek disk to use for sound to get it close. You hear some bumps from the disk but it was not in a rocky field.

You rattled off the the price of the Ripper which I thought was expensive. Then you mentioned the additional price for the rolling baskets. Holy buckets, that sure sounds really pricy. The 9620 should be going 9 to 10 MPH at that price. Just me speaking. Great video...thanks.

Thank you for watching. A 13 shank tillage implement running 16 inches deep is pretty maxed out a 7 mph. To run faster a 700 hp plus tractor would be required. 4wds built in the 70s and 80s that topped out at 320 to 370 hp will pull a 5 shank ripper in these conditions.

@@bigtractorpower Thanks for responding. The farm equipage nowadays is so much larger and technically superior to the days I farmed back in the 60's and 70's. Never would have dreamed while driving a Farmall 450, pulling a three bottom plow...where the heck is the autosteer button?

New corn heads make a nice difference. These modern stalks take a couple seasons to totally break down.

It’s cool how many jobs it accomplishes at once but taht price tag for one implement seems wildly expensive. I’m not taht knowledgeable on tillage stuff. Is that actually a reasonable figure compared to other brands?

It’s a big investment. It is a large implement. The price tag is in line with other rippers of this size. A 2021 9620RX tractor lists for $675,000.

It may have been. The 2730 is working up that grassy spot. They definitely planted around that spot. There could be a boundary marker there. Often when fields are combined by taking out fence lines a boundary marker is left to show where property breaks are even if it’s all being cropped in a big block.

Yes the 747 weighs 130,000lbs. A 9620R weighs 60,000lbs.

It is. The 9620RX listed for $628,000 in 2018. A 2021 9620RX is $675,152.

I remember my late Father telling about his first years of farming on his own. He raised around 80 acres of corn each year. Disked the cornstalks in lands with a 10 foot single disk and plowed with an unstyled B John Deere with 2-14's. The rig in the video would do in a morning what my Pop did in 2 weeks. Farmers have it pretty cushy now.....except paying for all the shiny paint.

They say its okay to put jet fuel in diesel engines, so does this mean that I could put jet fuel in my tractor?

Jet fuel (there's variants, but a very common one is known as Jet A) is really close to regular old diesel fuel. And, for that matter, kerosene. You can even run it straight in your diesel car or truck, though it doesn't lubricate as well so if you do, you'd want to add some sort of lubrication additive.
