Side covers fit fine on a 318 with a 20Hp Onan. That’s what mine has that I’m fixing up.

You need that belly screen if you are going to mower other wise grass will get sucked in the engine and plug the cooling fins on cylinders trust me

Those 420cc predators are great ive got one in my Case 222 I use for pushing snow and dirt as well as pulling my trailer around I do however think your going to find that the 318 will be under powered now due to it having a 13hp now. Just my 2cents

I got it running and driving. I'm surprised on how much low RPM power it has, from a full stop I can shove the FNR lever all the way fast as it goes at idle. And the engine doesn't even bog. It probably does help that the carb is jetted out and a better exhaust.

I would put the original style motor back in it it’s the onan p218g you will like the tractor way more after it’s done I promise

The Onan that was in it just had a stuck starter, partially engaged to the flywheel. I would use the Onan but I'd just be pulling it back out in a few weeks, and putting the 420cc in. I have other onans and other opposed twins, there just too high maintenance for what I want in this tractor. I want to just start and go. the 420cc is my favorite go to engine for basically everything.

Is it the 3 speed with high and low? There all the same from 1966-1981, except the 1976 and newer have splined hubs and the 1975 and older are 1" keyed hubs. You can swap the transmission between them with no issues, just the splined ones are stronger.
