Knowledge share. For the outside wheel weights, get a longer bolt, cut the head off to make a stud, turn wheel locate with the stud at the top position, hang weight, start bottom bolt, roll wheel 180 degrees, remove stud, put in second bolt, tighten and you are good to go and will still have most of your fingers.
@MountainGuerrilla

or just get studs and nuts for the weights, hex head studs that the nut will firt over would work fine

A real TRACTOR! No wussy zero turn "mower", could ever do what these old tractors can do, no matter how much the those companies like to play the advertising gimmick with their "zero turn tractor" sales event BS! Zero Turns will never be a tractor, as much as they wish they could!

For putting the wheel weights on, get a longer bolt of the same thread and cut the head off. Insert into one hole and slide the weight on. No pinched fingers or smashed hands. keep up the good videos.

Norm, the easy way to install your chains is to jack the rear end up a few inches. I installed my TerraGrips this past weekend in 10 minutes, I also dropped some air pressure first, installed chains & aired back up to spec, easy peazy!

Boy buddy your life gonna be a whole lot easier with that John Deere than that old ford you used to use in winter..i love mine and couldn’t live without it .. the 3 and 400 series JD were like the sub compacts of the 80’s and just as capable as like the 1023 and 1025 of today ,, it just may take a little bit longer to do the task ,,bit they can do anything they can.. beautiful 400 buddy..

Couple things that'll make that blower preform better, a taller chute and some rubber flaps on paddles. The rubber flaps Will close up the gap between the blower shell and the paddles. Also get a electric actuator for the chute deflector.

What would help put your wheel weights on is use some bolts extra long with the heads cut off then you slide the weight on and remove one starter dowel at a time and install the bolt it will save your fingers and having to fight with the weight.

You guys ain't alone in Maine. Here in Michigan we've had snow on the ground since the 9th, and it's been in the mid 20s to mid 30s all month. We've got a snow storm coming in just a few hours tonight that's supposed to drop 3-6 inches. It was 6-10 inches, but they lowered it. I hope to find a snow plow for my John Deere 316 (onan) soon.

Yeah, I have a couple of 214s and a 318. I have some Wheel Horses as well. Those old Deere s really are the best in the user friendly category. Front plow blade, snowblower and even the tiller are so well thought out for ease of use/install there's nothing close to them. Traction however definitely goes to my Wheel Horses. I've got my Deere s stuck a few times and had to pull them out with the horses I've got to remember their limitations more.

I do plan on doing the flapper mod in the next couple of weeks. Right now, I am trying to figure out a better way to install the blower. I was very lucky in this video to install it so easy on 1 take, but I tried to re-install this morning, and couldn't get the drive shaft to slide in easily as I picked up the blower to try to lock the pins in. It was a wrestling match. I am searching for a better way to get that all installed. Thanks again for your comment!

@@Isavetractors Im looking forward to your next 400 video, just saw the Plow refurbish. Use the kick stand, drive the tractor up so the bottom frame hooks mate the stubs on the blower. hook up the hydraulics. It throws snow like a boss. Better than a newer, bigger one of a different brand, that I saw recently...nice. Does it have a useful bucket for the front? Any idea what sort of weight it can lift without blowing a hose?
@Isavetractors
@Isavetractors 5 жыл бұрын
I could build a little bucket for the front it has 2000 psi hoses and the pressure relief I believe is only 900 psi so there should be no hoses being blown at any weight. I've put 500 pounds on the 3 point hitch and it lifts it easily.
@jimf1964
@jimf1964 5 жыл бұрын
isavetractors That's impressive, but when you say you could build one, is it not possible to buy one? Did they use the front for something specific, or is it just the age?
