John Deere 4640 Is Getting Upgrades- Good Day Trucking Till We Lost It

Join along as we get the John Deere 4640 much better equipped for the season with wome new to us dual hubs. With help of Chris & Tristan we get hooked up at Macfadden & Sons. Some wrenching leads to us not having everything we need so it's a parts run. Then off to haul silage with Double A as a truck goes down. A late night just gets later as the tail gate on the silage truck decides to come off. Thanks for watching along.

I run a combination of new stuff and old stuff and I swear we have less mechanical issues with the old well broken in tractors then we do with the newer ones. The hydraulic capabilities and so on are much greater on the newer stuff but they also have a lot more to go wrong

I planted 30 acres of corn on the 21st. Just checked this evening and it’s up. Today is the 26th. Better off waiting for warmer soil. Regardless of why you wait. I’m behind also but it is what it is. Had lots of good corn and beans planted in June.

It is currently Sunday May 26th here on our place in Western PA. We started on our corn on Monday afternoon finished Tuesday evening had I known that the weather was going to hold off as much as it did I would have waited and planted Friday and Saturday it would have been dryer however, the corn is up now in the stand looks good.

Dont feel bad about being behind on planting, youve got a lot on your plate. Ive seen everyone going to town trying to get stuff done. Im still working a little ground to get stuff planted and trying to get my hay equipment ready to go since it came on early this year. Tough to do when your mostly a one man show and work 40+ at a regular job all week.

I once lived and worked on a ranch with some farm but what we farmed was for the beef. I now have a garden growing sweet corn and some meal corn but frankly it is just a home use garden and some of my corn is a foot tall but I started it in a green house and planted it out but for me it works for you not so much.

Put bolts with lock nuts in place of the hinge pins. We run 5 of that style boxes and the regular pins always seem to break the roll pins or cotter pins that hold them in. The sides move in and out as they flex so the bolts hold things in place
