Hey Tim. I work for a Deere dealer here in North Carolina. I wanted to tell you that the 5m in the 5075 is a 4 cylinder frame ( like the 5090M frame). This being said, it is a wider frame and therefore allows the tighter turning radius. That is why the 5075 is the only 3 cylinder tractor that is able to be put on the larger frame. Great videos. Like I said before, I use your channel a lot for first time buyers to get more comfortable with our products. Keep up the great work!

Does the 5 series E, M or R have mid and front PTO for attachments i.e mid mount mowers or front PTO for snow blowers? Etc
@dylanhawkins3844
@dylanhawkins3844 4 жыл бұрын
Uncle Alan's Yard the 5m and r series have front attachers for hydraulic driven implements. The R has a front pro option. None have mid pto but again can use hydraulically driven implements like boom mowers or flail mowers. Our company sells quite a few 5 series 4 cylinder tractors to municipalities to run mowers.

We would love to hear more of your opinions Dylan. Tim gave a good review of her. If you follow Hay Kings or some of the other farming pages on Facebook the 5E series tractors do not get many good reviews. Many hay farmers report throwing codes , randomly shutting down in the field, fuel and electrical problems. ( Spring Hollow Hay Farm on KZfaq actually had Deere buyback his 6065E in a few years ago , he used the money for a 6110M ) ....... anyway I am sure the recommendation would be to move up to an M or R tractor....... I would love a 5 or 6 M or R but I just can’t afford it . It’s up to me and my 1982 4440 to get all of the work done. I do love my 4440 but I miss the 4020 with the loader I traded for it. I gained a cab but lost a loader. I’m really in need of a 50-100 hp utility tractor for raking , tedding , loader work . Something that can handle a 10-15 bale hay grapple in the future as well. I use my buddies 5105M a lot and there is a chance he might make me a deal on her as he has a lot of tractors. Lord willing my 2nd hay cutting of 2020 will be fair and next year will be good as well. I work about 50 acres of hay now.
@dylanhawkins3844
@dylanhawkins3844 4 жыл бұрын
Thomas Mccrea those old soundguard tractors are hard to beat. The 5E 3 cylinders are good utility tractors but I definitely would recommend stepping up in frame/trim level for the extensive hay crop you sound like you have. You can always do a smaller job with a bugger tractor. You can never do a bigger job with a smaller tractor. The 5m frame in any horsepower is a great all around utility and hay and forage tractor. If your friend will cut you a deal make that happen. Just be sure to keep that 40 series kicking. She’ll be around when others won’t!

I now have a 4044m and it has a similar if not the same transmission. And I also dislike the fact that I go faster in reverse than forward in the exact same gear. The clutch issue is the same as well. My understanding of it is the clutch is purely electronic, it operates a valve under the floor board that engages and releases the actual clutch so it will not be as smooth as an older style tractor clutch. Great video again and very informative. Thanks Tim and Christy!

I think the improved turning radius on the m & r series is like the larger kubota tractors such as a m135, they have 2 steering position sensors that engage a 2nd gear in the front of the transmission to make the front wheels turn faster then the rears so it helps pull the front end around faster. Seen them malfunction and brake too costing a ton of money!

If you put your sole on the floor and release the clutch slowly it will be a lot smoother we use a 5080m and 5085m and they are quite smooth either that or its just what you are used to. in the uk anything over about 40hp tends to me a manual or semi-automatic tractor rather than a hydro

The turning radius is better on the 5r because of the full frame construction. In europe the 5e has 24/12 as ann option. Air ride seat, 40kmh, 480/70-30 and 320/70-24 r1 wheels. Both on the new edition and older 5e models, creeper can be added with a rebuild kit.

Good morning Tim, and thanks for another great video. The 5 E tractors are a good entry level tracor for sure, but are not what the M's , or R's are for heavy work. I had the 5085e, and was ok with it until started having many problems with the transmission, 12 - 12 w/ shuttle. Very expensive repairs for a tractor with less than 600 hrs when started with problems. For sure not a good choice for doing precise loader work, because of that fast clutch, and mine always went into alarm when upshifting within whatever range I was in. Deere said was normal. I've traded into an R now and love it. 👍

I have that same problem with mine. It's like I'm shifting faster then the computer can recognize. When I'm brush hogging this tractor is nice because it doesn't grab and spin the tires while taking off on steep hills. Fuel consumption is 2.5 to 3 gallons per hr.

Have you done any lift capacity Test on this tractor? I know it would be harder to do those test on the larger tractor. I’m considering a 5e and I would like to be able to get 3500 pounds a couple feet off the ground on a regular basis. The specs make it seem like this is possible but I just wondered if you had any personal experience with lifting large weights It’s always difficult looking at lifting specs when you are actually lifting weights that stick 4 feet out on the forks

The front tires would not allow 3500 lb on my machine. Really wish I had wider front tires. Also, the rear end is very light. Now that I have Rimguard, it might be better. It might pick up 3500. I’m not really sure.

I have a 2023 5075e. Thing keeps going into the shop. The latest is from a code 3032.02 CCU. The tractor will not disengage the MFWD in between brake/power reverser operations. It just screams at you and leaves the MFWD engaged. Less that 60 hours on it.

Interesting. I had some trouble with my 5e when I first got it. Eventually, they got it worked out. Has been fine since.

FYI Tim, my local JD dealer currently has in stock a 5000e with 12.4x24 front ag tires. So something may be changing in your favor? I'm like you, I like wider front AG tires.

recently retired from farming and traded for a new 5075E for use around the farm. Got 40 hours on it now, I dont have all the options you have on yours, and just the 520 loader, not the M. A few things I have noticed. Its a fuel hog. Compared to my Case CX70 I traded in on this it drinks the fuel. Cab is very nice, controls are good, I have no issues with the clutch as you indicate but the foot fuel pedal is horrid. i used it all the time on my Case but on this tractor I just cant use it without the tractor "jerking" from fast to slow RPMs. The E pto is great for bushhoging. The cab is much better than the old Case and I love it. The loader is WAY over sized for the tractor. That has been the biggest issue I have had. It will lift way more than the tractor can handel. I am so use to the bigger tractors and backhoes that this tractor scares me sometimes even with basalt and weights. I have to really watch what I do and try to pick up. Front tires seem small for the loader and the tractor size. overall I give it a 8.5 out of 10. really love it. This from a guy who has always drove Case or IH his whole life.

I recommend filling the tires with Rimguard. Gotta do something to hold that back end down!

Ah, it’s not me, my biggest gripe about my 5e is the lousy turning radius. Comes into play when spraying too. Also, it needs an emergency brake!

I know most of the time you all stay with a conventional agricultural style of tractor, designed to do a bunch of work and they do. This video highlights many great points on the models, features, things to consider for the needs of an operation creature comforts. If i may add a question for all to ponder, the JD construction equipment line;specifically the JD210 has added several new options that could make it a strong candidate for a non construction task operation or business. Transmission is a shuttle with four gear ranges no clutch, cvt style I'm not sure. Plumbed for 3rd function as factory option, quick disconnect bucket option ( bucket to forks for example , I believe the loader arms are pinned on not quick disconnect). The newest feature i'm aware of in a factory or dealer installed PTO ( I believe its all hydraulically operated, a gear pump and additional plumbing like they use on front mounted PTO set ups). I recommend everyone look at the rear ballast on on of these skip loaders (JD210LE, J,M are some of the models) it's impressive! It would be great for you guys to explore a set up such as this for viewers: why does this model not cross into the ag and general purpose categories? Its a work horse made to be operated long hours of a day has a very functional transmission type. I think they offer a cab now apposed to just open station? Does green or yellow make a difference on if the tractor can perform the task?? Hopefully some will get a chance to look at this model and evaluate if it fits the needs and the budget, and admire the engineering , research and development that has gone into this machine. As a homeowner, now that you can get a PTO option, makes this tractor a go to option in my mind.

Great video on the 5075e. I've owned mine since August of '17 and have 579 hrs on it it doing a wide variety of jobs. Great insights for only having 75 hrs on yours (so I'm not crazy feeling that I'm going faster in reverse after all even looking at the speedometer). Question, do you often roll the light switch with your left knee while operating the tractor or getting out of it? I think they might have moved it from the lower left dashboard location. The same goes for my 1025R. The most poignant advice was the mental battle (for weeks in my case) I had at the very beginning as to get the 4052R or the 4066R for options , capacity, and versatility. Anyhow, I walked into my dealer all set to buy the 4052R. He then proceeds to tell me he has a 5075E with the loader for 4K less. Crap, back to the drawing board. I reeeaallly wanted the hydro tranny as most of my work is loader work (have't taken mine off yet). Even that makes you decide between the hydro tranny on the 4 versus the loader might of the 5. Have seriously thought about trading to a 4066R a couple of times, especially as I've gotten a 1025R for small jobs and have experienced it's hydro virtues along with the trailering advantages of smaller size and WEIGHT. Then I'd get on a job where I have to move or lift giant logs or rocks the size a Buick and realize I never could have done that with a 4 series anything. Moral of the story is that it never resolves itself or goes away. So, I think I'm gonna just get these two tractors paid for and get a 3039R or 3046R which are right in between my two and have all of the bases covered (that's read: all necessary implements x 3). What fun though.

I just talked to my brother last week. 4 yrs ago a brand new 2016 5075 (open station w/ factory ROPS top) he bought was unloaded on the farm since the B's and the A arrived new. He has around 400 hrs on it now and recently, apparently a detent stuck and he didnt notice it. The rear end/hydraulics got so hot that it litterally melted the almost full fuel tank. They unhooked from the bailer and staryed spraying it with water so it didn't catch fire due to the excessive heat. He claims that two dealers and the manufacturer will not stand behind it. He also claimed that he has talked to others had the same problem with the same results. No one will stand behind them either.

Could you do a video explaining the draft control on this tractor. I find when I move my draft control lever back, the 3 point raises higher but is less likely to go to the ground. When I have the draft control lever full forward, it only raises my blade about a foot off the ground.

I had that problem!!! The main hydraulic lift cable has likely vibrated loose, making the main lift not lift as high as it should. Adjust that cable to make it shorter. For simplicity, leave that draft control lever all the way forward and forget it exists :-)
