I have my Dad's 1956 60 that he bought new. I was 3years old when he bought it. Spent a lot of time on it with him. I was only 5 years old and he had me driving it while pulling a wagon in 1st gear when picking sweet corn. Still using it to plant big gardens never been rebuilt. When I'm on it I feel like he's there with me

The fuel is opened using oil pressure if the oil pump breaks the fuel shuts off so not to ruin the engine

Seventeen years after my Dad passed away, I was finally able to overhaul his 1949 8N which had not been run since 2003. On October 11, 2022 the engine ran for the first time in seventeen years. He was a mechanic by trade. I learned enough from him as a kid to repair small engines and my motorcycles and with the help of some tractor overhaul videos I was able to completely overhaul the engine successfully and bought another 8N for another project. My brother and I put in a lot of hours on that tractor as kids and as teens. I would like to get a John Deere B or M for a project next. Enjoyed your video.

Awsome video i know what feelings u got my dad passed 4 years ago and we farmed side by side every day and when it was time to play on sunday we would fire up the two cylinders and do somthing with them whether it be some plowing or a tractor pull somewhere or worken on them and it might be strange but i couldnt touch them till about six months ago it was painful every time i thought about them but i over come that now and got all 6 of them goin again and it brought tears to my eyes every time that first pop sounded off.

I tried starting a 530 about 30 years ago and I killed my car trying to start at. I ended up taking apart the breather and putting my hand over the air intake so it would suck nothing but gas and was able to get it started this way

Good day from Ont. Boy good video. Those 630 were a nice looking tractor. The square fenders is what I always liked, & having lights ion them. Next step to 4010, 20 & up Sorry about yr dad, I know when someone leaves , many questions to ask Thanks

sounds like it's NOT the timing it's having trouble getting enough gas to keep itself going, it's a carburetor issue, set too lean, maybe the float is stuck or the jets could be a bit plugged, I work on old vehicles, especially old tractors both gas and diesel, and through the years I've had this problem with it not quite getting enough gas but these carbs are very simple to adjust as well as rebuild if needed, easy to clean too. should be easy to figure out, if you have any trouble let me know and I can talk you through it

@@HighOctane101 that's great bud, sometimes some patience and a bit of fine tuning to where you find the sweet spot to where it just runs flawlessly, even if it's a bit of a tedious always pays off, when I've had to adjust carburetors I had to richen and lean the mixture until I hit just the right spot where it start right up even when cold, revs up without any hesitation whatsoever and it idles nice and smooth without a miss, took some doing but glad I did it

Oil pressure turns on the fuel and if you ever lose oil pressure it will shut the gas off to the carburetor so you won't ruin the engine

@@HighOctane101 when it works but some people have a lot of trouble with them the little diaphragm in there that holds the valve open goes to pieces and then you don't have any fuel

Congrats to get it running after all those years. I have the same 630 that my Dad bought brand new. I had a couple of owners but was able to get it back quite a few years ago. I see you didn,t engage the clutch after it was running and that is very important on all 2-cylinders with a hand clutch. The crankshaft is spinning inside of a bushing in the clutch and causes unnecessary wear in the bushing. Also the power steering block is off center causing the steering to turn left without input from the steering wheel. Let me know if you need help with that. Kendall.

@HighOctane101 3 жыл бұрын
Good to know, so the hand clutch should be engaged anytime you’re in neutral is that correct so it don’t wear out the bushing and also I did get the block centered as best as I could it might be slightly off yet but it does a really good job of staying in the center now thanks for the info

@@HighOctane101 Yeah anytime its not going to be moving just pop it in neutral and engage the clutch. Good to know you got the steering corrected. Always use John Deere power steering oil from a dealer. Also a tip when moving the gearshift from one side of quadrant to the other sometimes it can seem to not want to keep going so just roll the clutch in some and then it goes easy. I will look for that video, thanks

Yeah the sediment bowls of today are a lost cause they are all made cheap today and leak as well as the automatic shutoff filling the crankcase full of fuel just get you a ball valve and a bronze filter from autozone
