JOHN DEERE 8R 370 Tractor Moving The Corn Harvest

In this video Big Tractor Power spends time out in the field with a 370 hp JOHN DEERE 8RX370 Tractor on grain cart duty during the corn harvest. This tractor is keeping up with two JOHN DEERE S780 Combines an S680 combines equipped with 12 row corn heads. In order to keep the combines rolling non stop through the corn harvest the JOHN DEERE 8R 370 Tractor is operating an 1,000 bu. KINZE 1100 grain cart to move the corn away from the combines and to waiting semi trucks. Viewers will take a ride in the tractors cab to see the operators perspective of running this big John Deere tractor as well as learning about its specifications and price tag.

I lile the cab footage👍😉 we have an 8400R, we use it on the disk and on the cultivator. When we chop corn or alfalfa, it is working on the pile👍😁 it is a great machine👍

If I paid that kind of money for a brand new tractor and the seat squeaked like that I would be pretty upset. That being said, awesome video as always! You do a great job BTP.

I asked about the squeak. The seat is set to tight. They are going to adjust it.

Squeak was fixed. Pivot on the mount lubed.

I work on a farm that uses a 8225R and 8235R. They get used for tillage and planting for sod and beans. I’d love to drive one of these new model 8Rs

At that price as most of them nowdays, they are OTR semis. Can't afford to let them sit idle because it cost too much for that and also them are for huge farms and acreage. No little small farmer is ever going to have these. And being in them for almost 24 hours I can see why they have the luxury of a home. Thanks for the videos.

If you are real lucky it will rain on the last day. They do have a wash bay and things get a regular washing after a few weeks of hard use.

It's a complete redesign for MY20- so the change in the naming makes it easier to differentiate from the older models plus most farms call these tractors 8r's for years so new models go along with that.

Question: I'm wondering if a tracked grain cart pulls heavier than a wheeled cart? How about in wet conditions?

Good question. The tracks in my observation are best overall. Less resistance, the float and spread the weight for less compaction. 15 years ago this farm had Kinze 1050 carts on duals. They were good until a very very wet harvest and then they were like boat anchors leaving deep ruts. Half way through that harvest tracked versions showed up that stayed above the surface rather than sinking.

The new 8R is nice. I would say an 8RX takes it to a new level of performance.

I like that the farm has equipment sized to the task at hand. Carts over 1100 bu seem like a waste with added compaction and no real advantage. The semi can only handle 1100 bu if the corn is dry and be weight compliant.

Some farms have more than one semi, you want to drive the shortest distance possible with the grain cart. If you have big fields it would be a pain in the ass to drive back and forth to the semi everytime your 1100 bu grain cart was full.
